With the right spin, they could take advantage of a Sothebys auction. Not to mention, only a few months ago they were willing to take around 10k!

This means if you sell something for 300k as an example, the first 250k is commissioned at 20% and the remaining 50k would only be at 12%. I have sold a hand full of paintings at Sotheby's over the past few years and the first one I paid the full 20%, the second two I paid 15% (both were less than 250K!) because they wanted the pieces for the auction because they were having a special sale of a few artists work only.
