Oversized Mount Required - HELP !!!, by pokodogo on Jun 17, 2009 14:37:10 GMT 1, After finally deciding to get my DAVID CHOE Triptych framed up in one big frame I have been to my trusty framers and he doesnt have a mount big enough, asked me to source it myself.......... Any Ideas.
He needs the Mount to be 73" (1850mm) x 40" (1000mm)......Dont want to have to get the peices framed individually........
Any advice would be much appreciated Thanks

Certain that float mounting wouldnt work with it.
P.s. Fantastico collection youve got there, see plenty of Choe, why you never fancied the Triptych (dont say cos its so hard to frame)

Oversized Mount Required - HELP !!!, by frontierman on Jun 17, 2009 15:18:20 GMT 1, You could ask your framer to splice 2 mounts together, though I do not like doing this myself as it never looks right, another way is to splice 2 mounts together and cover with sort of fabric or material . If the images were on one piece of paper, he could use a wide plain wood slip, painted or again covered with material, as-long as the under side of the wood slip is sealed so the chemicals from the wood do not leech onto the paper, this is the way I would do it, in fact if you look at the history of framing, slips were used before mountcard to keep the glass off the artwork. Hope you are not wanting Conservation / Museum glass , because that does not come in that size 60"x40" max!

Oversized Mount Required - HELP !!!, by curiousgeorge on Jun 17, 2009 18:56:11 GMT 1, Nielsen Bainbridge do super jumbo (alpharag artcare) in white or white, i think they only sell these in 25 packs though!
Bainbridge or Cresent also do 48 x 72" 48 x 96"
Just in my opinion but putting them all together will not do them justice at all, that's speaking as a fan of these images and a framer

Oversized Mount Required - HELP !!!, by pokodogo on Jun 17, 2009 19:08:58 GMT 1, May try there then george
Any suggestions how you would frame them up (mount colour / frame etc), my framer did a good job of my "London Girl" see David Choe under framed art, so usually just leave it up to him.
