Overcharged for a Micallef print in Los Angeles., by influence on Sept 28, 2007 1:14:44 GMT 1, I was told that a single Micallef print would be an even $2000 without tax, however it looks like they added an extra $80 something to it now that I look at my card statement... Anyone else get these charges?

not meaning to sound smug, but you didn't buy 2 copies of the book at $40 each and forgot about them?
That's what i did.

Overcharged for a Micallef print in Los Angeles., by Internet Warrior! on Sept 28, 2007 2:11:06 GMT 1, Just realised what it is.
You're in the US, they were actually charging £1000 each sterling, although they were quoting $2000 (obviosuly as not to confuse the US customers by quoting in a different currency).
Then when they charged your card, you must have got a slightly worse rate, due to banks always giving below the actual rate, hence why it come out $80 over.
That's my guess anyway, but all UK customers got debited in GBP and my guess is that US customers were charged in GBP and your banks converted to USD and you lost slightly in the Ex Rate.

Overcharged for a Micallef print in Los Angeles., by bored with screen names on Sept 28, 2007 13:41:29 GMT 1, I got charged two charges on my credit card. One for $2040 for my print and book, then an extra charge of 60 something dollars for a currency conversion fee. Looks like Laz backwards converted the $2040 into GBP, which apparently my credit card company charges for.
The print I paid for with cash was $2000 even.
I put the blame more on the credit card company than Laz as I think it's the CC company who will see the currency conversion fee (a lot like Paypal, fucking joke)

Overcharged for a Micallef print in Los Angeles., by corblimeylimey on Sept 28, 2007 19:29:11 GMT 1, £1000 = $2,035.50 $2000 = £988.38 $2080 = £1027.92 (using yesterdays closing exchange rates)
So none of it makes much sense, My credit card (with Nationwide bank) is great, as they convert using the exchange rate and no extra charges at all.
