If you've ever bought a D*Face from Stolenspace, by leumasdarnley on Apr 2, 2008 18:14:09 GMT 1, Hey at least SS gives COA's this means if you bought a piece of the secondary market with no COA well now you can get it. 150 for that sign me up I would pay it for a couple Banksy's I own with wavey prov. if POW offered it. POW offers a free service god bless them but I would pay to get an answer when I need it.

If you've ever bought a D*Face from Stolenspace, by ricosg11 on Apr 2, 2008 18:20:38 GMT 1, So you are saying we shouldnt support young artists we believe in because when they get the recognition we believed they deserved from the beginning they are going to want a foolish amount of money to authenticate it??? Why should an artist authenicate their work, its the gallery that should do it. I think SS are shirking their responsibilities, they sold the pieces, they should provide the required paperwork. Name an artists who you have bought via a gallery, and the COA was provided by the Artist and not the Gallery <<<<<<<<<<<<<< Waits to get shot down in flames :-)
I agree, if a gallery sold a piece they better have a record of it. Should make authentication a breeze.

If you've ever bought a D*Face from Stolenspace, by Cocteau 101 on Apr 2, 2008 18:20:46 GMT 1, Thats what I thought. I thought SS was his gallery. All a bit confusing and maybe some clarity required from the man himself.

If you've ever bought a D*Face from Stolenspace, by Harveyn on Apr 2, 2008 19:00:56 GMT 1, Don't know about the Dface and SS link but I do know that of all the art I have ever bought from gallery's (and there is plenty) I have never received a COA issued by the artist. It is always issued by the gallery.
I have also bought many pieces directly from artists and they rarely (Miss Bugs & SPQR being exceptions) issued me with a COA. I have never thought to ask for one as I associate this activity with galleries (I keep their communications and any payment records I have as provenance).
