Faile Ecstasy Print - June 15th, by Gentle Mental on Jun 15, 2010 18:19:25 GMT 1, possibly the best from the whole native American theme thingey...extremely yummy eye candy, the latest classic, yup yup.
but this series doesn't quite resonate like the older faile icons
lacks that uniquely faile oddball feel
you get from say looking at a boy inhaling a toy bunny
(it's what i told myself as i released it from my basket for the 3rd time.)

Faile Ecstasy Print - June 15th, by Deleted on Jun 15, 2010 18:32:07 GMT 1, Im not sure why everyone thinks its too expensive. Now those Parla prints at ยฃ1k, thats pricey
Pricey yes but also quality and an edition of 100 from an artist who rarely releases print issues.
In hindsight, these prints (like Jose Parla's) appear correctly priced - they appeal to the people who want one enough to spend the $$$ and I don't agree with the 'I'd buy one if they were ยฃ600 brigade' as if one was really wanted for the sake of $175 they'd be gone.
What's delaying the inevitable sell out is that the good folk of the forum sense (correctly, as with Jose Parla's) there's not immediate financial upside and are wobbling.
I'll sleep on it - if they're still available in the morning and I fancy one I'll buy one......
Great release!

Faile Ecstasy Print - June 15th, by weeble on Jun 15, 2010 19:06:02 GMT 1, Seems like a mixed reaction on this one! Personally, I love it, and went for it. Although I prefer a little more dominant typography on my Failes, I've wanted one from the Indian series and this has been my favourite so far. Not entirely convinced by the garish colour but will have to see it in the flesh.

Faile Ecstasy Print - June 15th, by Deleted on Jun 15, 2010 19:38:33 GMT 1, Just to add to the customs / import tax conundrum, last time around I left Fedex to sort it out on my behalf when they delivered the duty bill....this was a faile item and no hassle. I paid 5%.
They also dropped their ยฃ20 'admin' fee when I challenged them that I'd already paid for delivery.....

Faile Ecstasy Print - June 15th, by speebe on Jun 15, 2010 20:41:44 GMT 1, Really liked the show, loved the original and I think the work gone into this edition will look great in person, just how much better does a dirty Star Spangled Shadows look up close.
However, the fact that these kept popping up a couple of hours ago and are now just sitting there makes me worry about a potential refund?
Unless the price/import tax/worldcup has had that much impact on sales?

Faile Ecstasy Print - June 15th, by oddkabob on Jun 15, 2010 21:23:09 GMT 1, I think all the talk of "the right price" and "holding its value" highlights just how many people are more concerned about the "investment value" of the print.
The average person buying an art object buys it because they like it and want it for their home. They don't think about it holding it's value or flipping. Did your mom and dads think about the flippability of the artwork they have hanging in their homes?
The urban art scene seems heavily populated with people who are looking as an investment or to make a quick profit. To them is $300 a better price because it's a flippable price? And it seems like for some flippers $1,000 is too big a gamble so they hedge against the flip and that makes them think the price is too high.
Faile isn't making art so people can flip it and make a profit. They're making it for people to hang up in their homes. $750 is exactly the right price for those who have the money and want to enjoy it. It keeps the low budget flippers away and yet it's much more affordable than an edition of 12 Faile piece which might run around $$2,400 to 2,800.
If you're a Faile collector it's a great deal. If you're an urban art flipper it's a 50/50 gamble. If you don't have $750 to spare there's nothing to think about. Buy because you love art, not because you're trying to make money off of it.

What about the people like myself (and im sure im not the only one here) who thinks $750 is a lot of money to them, maybe cant really afford to spend that money right now. Who actually want the image but think maybe, as previous Faile papermonster prints have dropped, so they are trying to be carfefull with their hard earned ยฃ/$ rather than thinking about flipping.

Sadly I fall in the third catagory at the moment, and thats the only reason I am out. One of my favorite Failes for a long time. Stunner.

Faile Ecstasy Print - June 15th, by artstylee on Jun 15, 2010 21:46:29 GMT 1, Was finally able to repurchase, and I pulled the trigger. Bagged my first Faile. Congrats to those that have bagged this as well.
Got one too!. 12 Color Print from a Gagosian backed artist(s).
Faile has shown their work at the Gagosian during the Aaron Young Exhibition in Beverly Hills off Rodeo Dr. An original Ed Rusha work was 10 feet away from their original Faile piece in the show. I saw one of the patricks there too. He was shorter than I expected from what I've seen on the blogs. Art broads were all in his mix though.
That ontop of the fact that this was their personal favorite pieces from the show made me pull the trigger. Happy about size colors etc. Can't wait to get it framed. Don't know if I should get white or black frame.

Faile Ecstasy Print - June 15th, by fool4faile on Jun 15, 2010 21:47:23 GMT 1, oddkabob, you speak from my heart also with your words in general, but specifically here a totally different problem appeared (and i wonder only one person mentioned it before on those 5 pages): the execution of the edition itself! i really like the theme itself and i would have loved it the way "drymounted.com" announced it earlier on, but i am really disappointed about the way the finished product appears now: a) the heads of the "stab- men" are cut off; b) the "Mary" is lacking; c) the main color looks like menstrual flow, i am awfully sorry to speak it out loudly (well, write it down, but...), but this ruins the whole thing- she looks like falling into a whole tub filled with it- i don't want it on my wall- at what price ever... but don't get me wrong, i still LOVE faile, i just hope for the next release...

Faile Ecstasy Print - June 15th, by rosstierney on Jun 15, 2010 21:49:23 GMT 1, That's a bit of a narrow minded post imo oddkabob. There are definitely boundaries between pleasure, and pleasure/investment. I consider the investment element when buying anything over ยฃ300. I can't afford to buy something that's immediately worth less than what I paid for it. If I ever HAD to sell a piece like this, I would want my money back at least. If Faile didn't care about their market, this would have been an open edition.

Faile Ecstasy Print - June 15th, by Heavyconsumer on Jun 15, 2010 21:58:22 GMT 1, Nice Faile image imo. First one I've really liked since the Tate image went to print. Be silly to drop this kinda cash on it while still having so many pieces to frame though. Better off buying couple of frames and not overextending ourselves. Hope all you buyers really enjoy the prints though.
Hands up, who's the chancer with his print on Ebay already? I will offer you a score everynight hoping you're drunk and click the wrong button.

Faile Ecstasy Print - June 15th, by afroken on Jun 15, 2010 21:59:17 GMT 1, Those are completely different pieces. In fact I think the stock image is the same one that was used for today's release but with slightly tweaked colours. Bit weird.
EDIT: no, today's image is slightly different again although closer to the stock image of the OG than the OG itself is!

Faile Ecstasy Print - June 15th, by fool4faile on Jun 15, 2010 21:59:56 GMT 1, i am not sure if you will get those cheaper later on ebay- the other papermonster- releases by faile that went cheaper have boxers or a twisted flag on it- less "pleasant" to some- the "confessions"- print hasn't lost as much (sometimes gets sold for more than retail- price also) as the others for it contains a famous faile- woman- so does this one.

Faile Ecstasy Print - June 15th, by Karl Read on Jun 15, 2010 22:00:03 GMT 1, What about the people like myself (and im sure im not the only one here) who thinks $750 is a lot of money to them, maybe cant really afford to spend that money right now. Who actually want the image but think maybe, as previous Faile papermonster prints have dropped, so they are trying to be carfefull with their hard earned ยฃ/$ rather than thinking about flipping. plus theres the chance of being able to get one for cheaper after which people are considering.
Yeah kinda what i was trying to say.

Faile Ecstasy Print - June 15th, by artstylee on Jun 15, 2010 22:01:52 GMT 1, Last Faile Print Release - Faile Flag $350 Each - Ed of 300 (2 COLORS.)
This Print is $775 (with 6 Times the Colors) (12 Color Print). And is almost 1/2 the edition size of Faile 2 Color Flag with an Edition of 175 prints instead of 300. (6x's the color - nearly 1/2 the edition size) I'd say it's a solid print to say the least. Best Faile Print I've seen. First Faile colorful/flavorful enough to make me commit to purchase. My first Faile and it's a banger.
All of the Haters have problems that go well beyond art print purchases.

Faile Ecstasy Print - June 15th, by artstylee on Jun 15, 2010 22:08:39 GMT 1, I hear ya times are rough.
But if they charged about $500 on this print or less, it would seem as though the Faile Flag Print was Overpriced (with a 2 Color Print at $350).
Print price was right on target. If they wanted they could have maybee gone 550-650. But you know this print would have a complete steal at $500. 775 is just about what was expected for the price. Let's hope you all can grab one on the aftermarket.
