maybe, although its just as likely that they only had 1000 so wanted to advertise it to people at the festy. Knowing that if it goeds on the site most people at glasto would have missed out

If that is true, I wouldn't say it was a GPS thing or being physically on-site, it would possibly be that you sent the text on the actual days of the festival.

correctamundo - those who text after the festival ended on 27th June, then you wont be getting a freebie, as the idea of the campaign was to raise awareness with Glastonbury goers to their Forest (no not Nottingham Forest) campaign.

sorry, I work in this field and there is no such thing as tracking where texts were sent from. It was more likely to be for that day only

you dont work very well in that field then do you, ever heard of Location Based Services? It works on the ability to utilise services based on the GEOGRAPHICAL POSITION of the mobile device

I worked at a major telco for years and was part of the team that create 3G applications that you see available on most handsets today. I know for a fact that you can determine location based on text, just as you can when someone rings. A text message will still need the use of a base station, to receive and send signals, same as handset would need a base station to make a phone call.

If it tracked the text all the postcards would have been sent to the glasto urinals. what happened was the you text them, they text back asking for name and address. Not received postcard as yet though.
