I tend to agree. Technically as good as ever but not the strongest image for me. Still, no doubt it will fly out of the door.

Cutesy!! The message behind this beautiful and sad image could not be more DARK! ?

I assume the message is more of a sad/dark nature considering that the deer seems to be drowning, underlined by the title 'Last Kiss', receiving the kiss from a free, light, colourful creature like the hummingbird. Some tension in the message behind the piece, nevertheless the visual approach doesn't really underline this tension. Lack of colour variety, mainly soft colours, one main object as eye catcher. Or does the different visual approach even underlines the tragedy of the message of the piece? Definitely a piece which could be considered as a grower and nothing which gets all the attention at first sight.

That painting was a key piece in the LeVine show and also has an important personal meaning for me. I am always a little wary of sharing my intended interpretations with people as most everyone has his or her own idea of what is going on in a picture. But I think I should share my thoughts about this piece with you.

If you are like me you are starting to take notice of your body beginning to creak more often than it used to. Your memory is not as sharp as it used to be. You are basically on the door step to mid life. Like the car you drove as a teenager you still have it but it is getting rusty and needs more maintenance than it used to, and you can't trade it in, not yet until the brilliant scientists perfect transhuman technology.

So for me the piece is foreshadowing a state of being that is on the horizon, and common to all. It is about becoming comfortable with letting go of the body or specifically identifying with the physical body. The humming birds could represent the personality, spirit, or soul. In a nutshell, it is an honoring and letting go of the body, realizing that it is temporal and its ok to watch it go over time, and to turn the focus of our identity on that bright energy within, for me I often feel my mind is like a flock of humming birds, darting this way and that to ideas and emotions. The birds are saying goodbye to the body.

For me it has the strongest message of all the work I've seen from him! And, as has been said, very dark.

He is 40 years young/old/midaged as far as I know.

In my opinion it will take some more time to open JKs work to a wider public and for people to understand his work better, so for me. there is so much more potential in his work if you get your teeths into it.

Owning already a frew prints I bought my first original and I can tell you - his work is even stronger in the flesh.

It will be very nice paper. Limited Addiction publishing creates the editions for DBS. Tiny Showcase used their own publisher for the charity release.

All of the signed Keyes prints are top notch quality (although some Magician's Garden prints have been signed after the fact).
