Jef Aerosol ๐ซ๐ท Stencil Street Art , by robinbanks on Nov 29, 2007 20:47:44 GMT 1, Robinbanks, when I got his message, my eyes got wet too... Right then, i wished i could have been with him, stencilling together both our crouched kids on the streets of his city...
Jeff - I read this thread thru from the start and I totally got where you were coming from. I think some people might have misinterpreted what you were trying to say, but then again it is easily done on forum's because, such are the complexities of the English language (of any language in fact) that it's often impossible to describe your true feelings without facial expression and subtle changes in tone of voice.
Anyway, enough rambling, what I really wanted to say was that I'm so happy that this story had a happy conclusion (although I don't think it'll be the end) and that you have proved yourself to be a true gentleman.
I know you don't care for the respect point kudos system, so I'm not gonna give you a +1. What I will do is take my hat off to you and shake your hand if I'm ever lucky enough to meet you. ;D

Jef Aerosol ๐ซ๐ท Stencil Street Art , by craigf on Nov 29, 2007 20:49:21 GMT 1, Really great end to the story and thanks for the link. I can see a number of influences in his work and like a number of his pieces. Spray painting a wall there is also going to be a lot riskier business than it is for Europeans

I made a video of Jef working in Paris...since I was lucky to catch him doing some cool stencils in the Latin Quarter...there is also an interview, article, and maps of his work...
You can view that here: gadabout.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=44&Itemid=171&ed=3

Jef Aerosol ๐ซ๐ท Stencil Street Art , by Jef Aerosol on Oct 30, 2007 19:41:24 GMT 1, a few new originals...
This first one is my special Halloween treat !!!
stencil on fibreboard (1 cm thick), 18 x 60 cm, available for sale...
stencil on cardboard, 20 x 50 cm, available for sale...
And two Thunders on cardboard :
Stencil on cardboard, 30 x 30 cm, available for sale
The "Gibus" thing is a reference to a cult rock club in Paris where Johnny used to play a lot... Let's compare that music venue to, say, the Marquee in london or the CBGB in NYC... When I stumbled across that tomato cardboard with the "gibus" on it, I immediately thought of Johnny... As for the DTKLAMF (down to kill like a mother f**ker), you probably know the cult albums : DTK (the live one) and LAMF (the studio one)... both awesome punk gems !

Jef Aerosol ๐ซ๐ท Stencil Street Art , by Jef Aerosol on Oct 30, 2007 21:48:26 GMT 1, My works on cardboard and paper are half the price of my canvases and fibreboards... And I agree : the contrast between rough torn cardboard and a nice clean frame is very effective...

Jef Aerosol ๐ซ๐ท Stencil Street Art , by Jef Aerosol on Oct 30, 2007 23:54:56 GMT 1, well, I should work on that, as my works are a bit here and there and everywhere, but no place is really properly organized ! I should update my official site, but am very bad at that ! Did my own website with front page, awfully old school and not been updated for ages (time time time !) ! Any good and cheap website maker among you ? lol ? I can pay with a canvas ! anyway, you can see loads of pieces there :
flickr group/pool : www.flickr.com/groups/jefaerosol flickr perso page : www.flickr.com/photos/jefaerosol myspace : www.myspace.com/jefaerosol official site : jefaerosol.free.fr
And some pieces are also for sale thru these gallery sites :
www.blindangle.co.uk (solo show febr 08) www.opusunderground.com www.anotherspace.info www.galerieligne13.com www.flickr.com/photos/annevignial (group show nov 08)
But any stencil you like among the ones you can see on those sites can be painted on order, any size, (on canvas, paper, carboard, leather, fibreboard, you name it...) and sent to you anywhere, paypal paid... some images that aren't on the web can also be seen in my book.
hope that helps ! cheers Jef

Jef Aerosol ๐ซ๐ท Stencil Street Art , by Jef Aerosol on Oct 31, 2007 22:48:46 GMT 1, I seldom work on vinyl, though i have already done so. But I'm at the origin of a big group show (100 artists / 666 pieces) called "Dites 33" which is a tribute to vinyl album covers... The website isn't updated at all, but it gives you an idea : ditestrentetrois.free.fr and if you type "Dites 33 jef aerosol" on google, you'l find lots of blogs, pics, etc...

Jef Aerosol ๐ซ๐ท Stencil Street Art , by Jef Aerosol on Oct 31, 2007 23:15:21 GMT 1, The only sneakers I have ever worn were torn ones in true Ramones fashion, way back in those late 70s punk years ! But since the 70s, I've mostly worn Anellos & Davide legendary boots, or some other chelseas or beatles boots, as well as Mexican ones, or some Australian William's, i also have some old Shelly's, some Capricorns and an old pair of Marleys. Cuban or flat or low cuban heels. Always side elastics, mainly central seamed. Have just received my brand new Beatwear Cavern boots, very good copies of vintage anellos. Here's a part of my boots collection :
I could also tell you about my hat and cap collection, about my many thrilly fronted shirts, my waistcoat collection, my velvet jackets and redinguotes, about how rayban wayfarers have changed since the 60s dylan model, how Mc Cartney first discovered the flamenco boots made by Anello & Davide that were to become legendary under the name "beatles boots"... I could also talk to you about Mr zimmerman's leather jacket and english buttoned collars, about The flamin Groovies velvet caps, about Keith's dotted shirts, about paisley and flower shirts, about psychedelia and garage, about teddy boys and mods, about punk and glam... about.... about.... Only other shoes i've worn apart from my boots were creepers and Doc Martens...
