Massive New NICK WALKER in Brooklyn!!!, by jonpud on May 14, 2008 11:27:30 GMT 1, Just seen an NW OG come and go at BRP. Didn't catch the title but counted the noughts 20K. Seems to have disappeared. You mean this one
That was one of the 2 that didn't sell at the show! The other one was Repunzel priced at ยฃ35K.
I like Nicks work but the sweet revenge (Vandal in Balloon droping pain on a pigeon) didn't really appeal to me! The Repunzel on the pther hand was mint!!

Massive New NICK WALKER in Brooklyn!!!, by scottd007 on May 14, 2008 15:11:17 GMT 1, As a life long New Yorker (williamsburg ghetto in the '70s / prospect park bk / uptown downtown manhattan) - I'm not sure the "vandal" motif really works here. I mean, if you go around proclaiming yourself to be a "vandal" you'll get the s*hit smacked out of you...
I think you do New Yorkers a disservice with that comment. It will offend the offend-able & it will be appreciated by those who "get it"

Massive New NICK WALKER in Brooklyn!!!, by weeble on May 14, 2008 17:05:12 GMT 1, Edition of 3?!? at 20K each? ahaha. me and mate mate are laughing our tits off at this. i'm sorry, but this is shocking. if i'm spending 20k on a canvas by an up and cummer, i sure want it to be 1 of 1. i mean, there is only one mona lisa, only 1 scream. when and artist paints something, why make 3?!?? not sure i'm making sense cause i'm rambling cause this is making me laugh! plus i've had tree points of guinness and the sun has gone to my head.

Well, weeble, it's not the 'points of guinness' or the sun, it's that you are factually wrong.
Edvard Munch produced at minimum, 4-5 versions of The Scream: 2 paintings, 2 pastels and a lithograph. I was surprised when I learned this as well, but read Edward Dolnick's The Rescue Artist! It's the story of one of the infamous snatchings of one of these versions a few days before Norway hosted the 1994 winter Olympics (this time the thieves just climbed up a window and grabbed it) , but you may actually be more familar with the more sensational/ brazen daylight armed snatch and grab of a different version 10 years later.
Both versions were later recovered and the latter will be back on public display for the first time in 4 years THIS MONTH in Norway, supossedly...
Anyway, great book about art thieves and their recovery.. Talks about the Mona Lisa as well, and that there are rumors that the Lourve doesn't even hold the real Mona Lisa anymore after it was stolen in 1911 by a group (and an inside man) that once stolen, produced 6 copies to sell to 6 different buyers... and that the Lourve recovered one of these six copies... though, scholars have strongly disputed this.
Read Reit's The day they stole the Mona Lisa as well!
from wiki: The Scream (Skrik, 1893) is a seminal series of expressionist paintings by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch, depicting an agonized figure against a blood red skyline. It is said by some to symbolize the human species overwhelmed by an attack of existential angst.[1] The landscape in the background is Oslofjord, viewed from the hill of Ekeberg, in Oslo (then Kristiania), Norway.
Munch created several versions of The Scream in various media. The Munch Museum holds one of two painted versions (see gallery) and one pastel. The National Gallery of Norway holds the other painted version (shown to right). A fourth version, in pastel, is owned by Norwegian billionaire Petter Olsen. Munch also created a lithograph (1895, see gallery) of the image.[2]
The Scream has been the target of several high-profile art thefts. In 1994, the version in the National Gallery was stolen. It was recovered several months later. In 2004, The Scream and Madonna were stolen from the Munch Museum. Both paintings were recovered in 2006. They had sustained some damage and are due to go back on display in May 2008, after undergoing restoration.

I like Nicks work but the sweet revenge (Vandal in Balloon droping pain on a pigeon) didn't really appeal to me! The Repunzel on the pther hand was mint!! The Repunzel print was very poorly executed, the tower was round but the vandal logo was flat and just jutted out into space! Rush job.
