With xmas around the corner I wouldnt be supprised if it drops soon.

Not sure about in the UK but in North America Apple has student prices for most stuff. Not large discounts but it is something. Check their sight for details.

If she absolutely has to have one, try and get someone visiting the US to grab one for you ยฃ325 for the 16gb without 3g
OR even better option, get a dell 10v notebook for ยฃ200a nd 'hackintosh' it.
