Glastonbury 2011, by fingerz on Feb 11, 2011 15:17:22 GMT 1, The Libertines are to reunite at the Glastonbury Festival this summer.
The British indie band - fronted by Carl Barat and Pete Doherty - reformed to play the 2010 Reading and Leeds Festivals for their first live shows since 2004, and after the success of their comeback they are reportedly keen to play at the iconic British music event in June

Glastonbury 2011, by ricobenfico on Feb 15, 2011 14:44:15 GMT 1, Very surprised at the Sunday night headliner too! That pretty much kills any possibility of Prince playing now imo.
This may be a particularly good year for exploring new (to me) bands and other area's at peak times. Not a bad thing at all!

Glastonbury 2011, by ricobenfico on Mar 7, 2011 14:22:17 GMT 1, Here is the link for Clashfinder 2011 for the analy organised on here (include myself in that list)! It' doesn't have much detail on it yet as most is unknown. The guy who updates it does a sterling job and details will be added over the coming 2 months. He looks for contributions (info and finacial) where possible to lighten the load on the work this demands. Great resource:

Headliners are not the best thing about Glastonbury, in fact if the headliners were Glee, Girls Aloud and Daniel O'Donnell it would be still brilliant (other than the headliners) as you can still find lots of things to really enjoy. Last year my misses and I chose to miss all of the bands on Sunday night and spend time in other areas, the silent disco, Arcadia, the Dog faced geisha bar, the snake pit to name a few and to be honest it was the best night of the festival. Besides that the Eavis's are really doing a first class job of keeping almost all of the other bigger acts quiet, you wait I am sure there will be some amazing acts yet to be announced and anyone deciding not to go because they do not like the headliners will be regretting it big time and sitting watching it in June on the TV thinking "I could of been there"

.. gutting though as it would be my first glastonbury

On your own or with friends it is still great, everybody is incredibly friendly and you will soon meet up with other people. In fact sometimes it is better when you are on your own as you don't get dragged round to things you wouldn't have chosen and then miss out on the things you really want to see, however if you are still unsure you are welcome to knock about with us until you find your feet . Still in doubt I suggest you join the efestivals forum www.efestivals.co.uk/forums/index.php?showforum=4 there are lots of posts about going on your own, also have a look at Torts excellent FAQ on GlastoEarth www.glastoearth.com/the-faq particularly page two which mentions about being on your own, I have taken the liberty of pasting that part below for you. ;D
Is it OK to go on my own? I’ve been to Glastonbury as part of a largish group in the past and while it’s great to have the camaraderie of sharing the experience with good friends around you, it can also encroach somewhat on your freedom to enjoy the festival as you are often restricted by other people’s tastes in entertainment and you’re constantly trying to keep the group together so that nobody gets lost.
More often than not I’ve flown solo at Glastonbury. I have several groups of friends with whom I can pitch my tent and enjoy a bit of banter round the campfire but during the day I’m free as a bird to go off and see whatever I want and I believe that I get far more out of the weekend as a result.
You certainly don’t need to worry about going alone from a safety aspect. Whilst some large festivals may have a reputation of gangs of drunken teenagers roaming the campsites, burning tents, raping, pillaging and attacking the security, this certainly isn’t the case at Glastonbury and since the superfence was introduced in 2002 I have never personally witnessed violent or abusive behaviour in any shape or form. Quite the opposite in fact and if you are in any way naturally gregarious then you will find that most people are more than happy to chat away with complete strangers and help out if you need anything.
If you don’t know anybody who is going to the festival but would like to make contact with some like minded souls in advance then can I suggest that you join one of the several festival related message boards on the internet. Many of these people arrange to camp together and meet up at the festival and I’ve personally made literally dozens of very close friends over the years through this medium.

Im not the sort of person to go sit on my own in a pub, so 6 potential days on my own dealing with hangovers and come downs don't really seem that fun lol. Ill have to give it some serious thought over the next couple of days

I would suggest if you are still undecided, as long as you can afford it, pay up your balance now and see who is anounced after the tickets are all sold (the Eavis's have both said the full line up will not be anounced till then), if you then decide you don't want to go (and I am sure this will not be the case) as long as you cancel before May 6th you will get all of your money back minus £10 admin charge. Should you not pay up now and you then change your mind it will be too late .
