Glastonbury 2011, by Cornish Crayon on Apr 3, 2011 19:02:34 GMT 1, .. gutting though as it would be my first glastonbury
Dude you seriously need to go, you will not regret it........
It was our first glasto last year and yeah ok we got lucky with the weather, but just the amount of friends and folks you will meet and have a good time with is second to none, when you think you have seen it all you have only seen half of it,
It is a friggin mind blowing amazing experience ....... and we don't do drugs.
V, reading, leeds, T in the park, have got nothing on this festival,

Glastonbury 2011, by gibbin82 on Apr 14, 2011 20:10:11 GMT 1, Well after being eager to see the full Glastonbury 2011 line up a lot of it IMO is pretty uninspiring and to be quite honest I couldn't be happier ;D. There is still enough really highlights for me to see and hopefully remember for a long time after, but instead of being stuck at the Pyramid stage for the whole weekend not wanting to miss the next act, I will get the chance explore the smaller stages, venues and enjoy the other things you can only find at Glastonbury. The best part of 2010 for me was the Sunday evening night when we decided to skip all of the bigger stages and spend time in places such as Shangri La, Arcadia, the Silent Disco, the Snake Pit and best of all the Dog Faced Geisha bar

Glastonbury 2011, by gibbin82 on Apr 16, 2011 23:36:09 GMT 1, Anyone trying to get a Glasto ticket in the morning if you need a top tip to get you a ticket follow this.
It is quite usual on ticket sales days for the Seeticket site to become so swamped with traffic that the whole lot goes down and if you are lucky you might get a text page (the same will go for the official Glastonbury site). Obviously if you are trying to get through from the Seetickets home page or worse the Official Glasto site you need to first get this page up to go to the next and so on, at any time you can and will get a page not found error. So you need to at least miss out all of the unnecessary page and go straight to the sales page to have any chance, therefore you will need to bookmark the following two pages and refresh them regularly as the tickets will be sold from one of these, most probably the first link.

I got my tickets this year from first link and then later after a phone call from a friend got back in a couple of hours and got theirs as well. Best of luck hope to see you there

How does one go about 'getting to (legally) paint' at Glastonbury?

Glastonbury 2011, by ricobenfico on May 2, 2011 20:46:40 GMT 1, I always camp in the Dairy Ground.
What's it like up there?
We always used to camp at Michael's Mead but last year, couldn't find a spot big enough for all of us so ended up camping over in Long Ground. Lot's of space, nice toilets, close to John Peel...Downer: Miles away from Shangr-ila

I recommend Pennards Hill although it is very popular so if you want a good (any) spot you need to be there Wednesday morning, has a great view over the festival and near Shangri-la, the Stone Circle, the Park the Glade and not to far from the the Other Stage, although it is quite away to the Pyramid Stage, however to me it doesn't matter how far anywhere is as once I leave the tent in the morning I always wander around quite a bit and don't return until night time. Alternatively part of the Dragon Field is being reopened for public camping again this year, this is a great secluded spot although very small and some spots are on quite a slope it is very popular and fills up within a couple of hours of the gates opening, I would camp there but the misses likes Pennards and I have to keep her happy . See Torts excellent Glasto guide for further information.

Glastonbury 2011, by ricobenfico on May 2, 2011 22:36:36 GMT 1, Gibbin, quality info. Much the same as me too, off in the late morning not to return until mid morning the next day....with a mid day snooze somewhere randomly on-site!
I think I stumbled uppn the Dragon Field (yes, on checking I definately did) last year. There was an old mining shaft club dug into the hillside. Did you go in?

Didn't see the mining shaft club but will look out for it this time, if you look hard enough there are quite a few of those not easily found quirky places/venues that are know as secret bars, I can really recomend the Dog Faced Geisha bar, you can find it next door to Downlow [the Gay Bikers Bar], it looks like a old Soho type sex shop (see picture below), this year I am going to checkout the "Rabbit Hole" I know it is in the Park and you have to crawl through a tunnel to get in and they are all dressed as Alice in Wonderland charators inside, just in case anyone is thinking this is all a wind up, it actually exists.
There is also a great night time shot on this flicker page

Glastonbury 2011, by gibbin82 on May 7, 2011 17:09:26 GMT 1, Right everybody who wanted to go to Glastonbury should know by now now if they are going or have missed out on the last tickets, so it would nice to be able to meet up and put a face to the avatars of some of the forum members who are going (actually it might not be so nice for you, putting my face to my avatar ). So should anyone want to I suggest we could meet up at the Cider Bus at 1pm on Thursday, so we can find each other I propose we have some sort of identification symbol to gather around such as a simple flag (although I hate flags at Glasto but if it isn't in front of the stage it will be ok) a badge, any of the artists or anybody got any ideas on that?
Iit would actually kill two birds with one stone for me as there is a planned meet for another forum I regularly visit, the efestivals forum, see details from the efestivals forum of their meet below.
Every year a large bunch of Efesters gather together by the Cider Bus on both the Wednesday and Thursday afternoon. Its great to finally put a face to the avatar and glatobate to your hearts content.
The cider bus is located just off the main drag east of the Pyramid Stage and it isn't the only bar there. It's next to a great 'Official' bar that does a couple of nice real ales and your normal pick of larger.
There will be hundreds of people there so even though we'll be a very large crowd, we'll be hard to spot, but I'm sure some one will have a flag or a banner to home in on (Edit> See pics of Lucy's banner below) Also lots of people will be sporting the efest logo on there clothes.
You won't believe the fantastic atmosphere there. Hundreds of people having just traveled for miles, qued, set up their camp and then finaly relaxing over a pint. It's such a good buzz.
