Is this a PR stunt - does anyone know whether he's got a show or a piece in an auction coming up anytime soon?

Nice New Piece by Nick Walker in NYC., by giiiant on Oct 21, 2008 18:25:53 GMT 1, At least Nick does his own painting of giant murals and not hire colossal media to do the painting for him....
1) he's anonymous, it would have been logistically impossible to put them up any other way 2) the whole hiring of the billboard company to do a giant mural was an act of art in itself, questioning the line between advertising and graffiti (a question Walker has apparently answered by doing what is essentially a massive advertisement)

Nice New Piece by Nick Walker in NYC., by giiiant on Oct 21, 2008 19:01:47 GMT 1, 1. Oh I thought everyone already knew who Banksy was 2. So a piece done with an artists own hands is an advertisement and a hired mural commission is a work of art? ok whatever you say...
dont get me wrong, theyre both blatant adverts... thing is the banksy pieces recognized the fact and played around with it

I agree but it is interesting that in the end you almost become what your fighting/rebelling against don't get me wrong I think its great but interesting none the less. With the elections auctions right around the corner doesn't hurt to do a little campaigning does it .

Nice New Piece by Nick Walker in NYC., by gtf on Oct 21, 2008 20:55:11 GMT 1, It doesn't look like it is done on a billboard to me, just old fashioned paint on wall. Can anyone confirm this?
NW has gone "big" with TMA skylines before e.g. London at the Nuart festival a couple of years ago.
Strange that they have ended up in the same city again, Banksy was in LA the same time as Nick had his show at the Carmichael Gallery. All part of their "feud" or something else?

Nice New Piece by Nick Walker in NYC., by kahuna on Oct 21, 2008 21:51:06 GMT 1, Wish Nick had the balls to locate the "Pied Piper" and "Fat Cat" down on Wall Street or outside the Lehman building in Times Square. Sadly, intense security in those areas would make that task impossible.
I have a 3 hour transit stop at JFK on Friday morning, tempted to jump in a cab to see the East Village piece.

Nice New Piece by Nick Walker in NYC., by motor on Oct 21, 2008 22:20:25 GMT 1, Piece looks great. One of his best I have seen however I see it as a pure and simple advert for an upcoming Bonham's auction on the 11th Nov where he has a few pieces. Lot 61, to be precise. The Morning After (New York), 2007 26 x 32in (66 x 81.3cm) Estimate: $40,000-60,000. And with that it looses its appeal to me.

New York show eh, there's an idea
Good work fella. That's one mighty sweet fine piece.
Another great dig at his arch rival, as those who are savvy know who bit the old 'hands holding a frame stencil.
Graff's always been about rivalry & 'getting up' and they're both still 'at it' big time so you can only doff your brim to the pair of them.
Bristolians s**t it ;D

Disappointing that an advert gets (so far) well over 50 more replies than some amazing art by Eric The Dog painted for the love of it on this thread
