why not mention "...send the prints out because of some unfortunate circumstances, out of his control, involving the incompetence of the Post Office" ?
it wasn´t planned this way but shit happens.
i dont see a reason to start moaning given the background information we have. if it was clearly his own fault yes, but its not.

EELUS • Not Everything is so Back & White, by nex on Aug 27, 2010 10:33:12 GMT 1, on a side note - do any of you have jobs? do you get in trouble for things out of your control? do you get told 'you should have planned it better'? If I turned round to my boss and said 'hey s**t happens, what can I do the royal mail were slow' , he'd say 'you know, why the f**k didn't you think of that before you started?'
I'm not having a go at Eelus I couldn't careless when these prints arrive, but it would sometimes be nice to inject a lttle realism into these discussions
p.s. however much your client base pisses you off, you never publicly criticise them, the power of twitter eh

Just me thinking loud... if it wasn't all the discussions and interest shown in this forum prior to the release would the print sold out that fast?

I've only heard criticism from people who missed it or didn't order. If I buy something from the states takes longer to get to me than this will, so not an issue for me.

EELUS • Not Everything is so Back & White, by eelus on Aug 27, 2010 21:11:20 GMT 1, Oh dear, what have I started. Right, I thought I'd step up and break my forum silence to try and resolve this situation before it gets out of hand. I'm sorry to anyone who really took offense to my twitter comment, but after taking the constant bashing that I have from the forums over the years (and it literally has been years now), I just vented a little. It happens.
There are those of you on here (and other forums) who are usually behind me and what I do and that is of course always massively appreciated, I've taken the time to speak to most of you through emails in the past and I've always done what I can and gone out of my way to keep those people happy. BUT, my feeling is that these people are in the minority, as most people who discuss me and what I do, do it in quiet a negative way, sometimes in a very negative way which is often unnecessarily critical. But I'm a big boy, I can take it. I'm all up for a good bit of constructive debate and criticism, That's what these forums are for after all. But my PERSONAL opinion on a lot of the comments on here towards myself & other artists is that they're pretty empty, pointless, said without thought or reason and often said just for the sake of putting someone down. But like I said, I'm a big boy, I can take it.
To those of you who do feel alienated or just pissed off about what I said, then I'm sorry. But as warmgun says about people venting because they feel let down, I was simply venting because I'm tired of seeing comments posted on here from people who seem to think they know how things should be run better, organized better, painted better, whatever. At the end of the day, as much as I'd love to be POW and have a team of staff organizing all my orders, sending prints out, answering emails, packing canvas, dealing with the general day to day shit that gets in the way, I'm not. It's just me here, trying to make an honest living the best way I can out of something that I love to do. I'm very lucky and fortunate that there are people out there who like my work enough to allow me to do this full time, but that doesn't mean I'm anything more than just 1 person in a small studio working his arse off to keep everyone happy.
I can promise you there's nobody more disappointed than me about the fact the prints won't go out until I return from setting up my NYC show. Believe it or not, I get excited about the thought of people receiving these, I like to hear people are happy with what I'm doing. It's a good feeling. All 130 prints were rolled and addressed by hand yesterday by myself so that they would be ready for a collection today that was booked with Royal Mail. Now because a few extra things I needed from Royal Mail to get these prints out didn't arrive on time, my plans fell through. Yes, in hindsight I freely admit these items could and should have been ordered well in advance, but they weren't. It's been a very busy time for me lately with a lot going on and it was something that I regretfully left until the last minute to sort. After Royal Mail promising me I'd receive the items on time I felt assured and relieved that all these prints would be on their way to their new homes whilst I was away and it was a big job done and out of the way. BUT, as we all know by now it hasn't happened like that. But it does say on my website to allow up to 28 days for delivery on all items, so when I get back on the 5th and get the prints out, you will ALL still have received them within the 28 days and there shouldn't be any need for such disappointment and critical discussion. I haven't broken any rules, I haven't robbed anybody, I'm just trying to do the best I can with what I have.
So with that all said, I'd like to sincerely thank everybody who parted with their money to buy the last print and I'm sorry that you'll have to wait a little longer than planned to receive it. And to those of you who took such offense to my venting on twitter, I'm sorry. But before the next time you decide to criticize and accuse people of doing a bad job, just think about the meaning behind your post and try to understand that things aren't always as straight forward as they seem, or put another way, not everything is so black and white.
Have a great weekend everybody.

But that said customers will be customers and I know running my own business how testing everyday in life that can be.
I would add that making comments such as this is probably not the most constructive thing to do under the circumstances.

Just be pleased that you have bagged one and dont have to sssettle for a secondary market deal to line a middle-man's pocket for one
The problem with all this moaning is that it suggests that ppl bought them to try and flip them for a quick few quid and now are worried that they wont be able to
Remember how long we had to wait for those Trolleys prints??? Now that was a frustrating wait!

Well Manty you know me, always open to hear and listen to other people's opinions. I was not making a statement on whether the comment was fair just on the fact that it was probably not that constructive in the circumstances.
That said do all comments have to be constructive?
Anyway Mr E it would be nice to hear more from you on the subject of art and not just your own. It might not be your thing but it certainly appeals to me to have more of the artists we discuss involved.
