Uh, don't think so...
EDIT: I've never been but would love to go to the Van Gogh museum and the Stedeljik (modern) museum. Hire a bike as well...

Where to stay/What to see in Amsterdam?, by mikeT on Oct 28, 2010 6:11:09 GMT 1, Few years ago, I was there for 22 days and stayed at the Rembrandt Square, can't remember the hotel name though. It was walkable to everywhere, Van Gogh and contemporary museums. And whether you need them or not, there're coffee shops and clubs all around.
Must check out the Anne Frank museum and Rembrandt's house as well. I remember vividly some tunnels near Rembrandt's house where there was lotsa cool grafitti on them walls.
And of course the torture and sex museums just for fun, peep shows and the infamous red light district. Pretty narrow though, the lanes, so you may have to step back to get a better view of the pleasure ladies.
I basically went to every museum 5 or 6 times.
Oh and the meat balls and strange phallic fried stuff from the vending machines, like Wilfs mentioned, are quite nice.
Hope this helps. I'm feeling both envious and reminiscent now.

hahaha, nice wake-up! think the most important stuff has been said already, the big musea. Havent been to the new stedelijk myself yet, but I heared it was impressive!
Eat Kroketten and Frikandellen out of the vending machines from Febo.
If you like to attend a gig, hopefully there is something that you like at Paradiso. Without a doubt the most beautiful venue we have in the Netherlands. www.paradiso.nl (if you need any help with purchasing tickets, just give me a shout!)
If you have enough self-esteem go in a sight seeing boat through the canals, that's quite nice.. Think it is too cold to hire water bikes
if you have any days left and dont know what to do, visit Den Haag (the hague), Utrecht (Rietveld exposition!), Delft or Maastricht..
If I come up with other things I will let you know!

Where to stay/What to see in Amsterdam?, by Drymounted on Oct 28, 2010 7:17:18 GMT 1, I was just there a few weeks ago and we stayed at the www.parkhotel.nl/ . It seemed to be centrally located and near all the action....no matter what you are looking to get into. I'm not much on the weed or prostitution, but it's definitely a sight to behold. The street art around the Red Light Distrist is amazing. Lots of Faile, TLP, etc.
All in all, it's one of my favorite places and I am adding it to my list of yearly vacation spots.
HAVE A BLAST!

Where to stay/What to see in Amsterdam?, by Jeezuz Jones Snr on Oct 28, 2010 12:20:06 GMT 1, I use to go over regular years ago, I went to an awsome party on NYE in the 'Milky way', worth going to if there is an event on...
www.rnw.nl/english/article/milky-way-hippies-and-hash-corporate-sponsorship
all the museums are walkable and are well worth seeing..my brother came with us once, we popped in the sex museum... he was looking at porn photos from the 1800's, he was amazed and shouted out 'phuk me i thought blow jobs first started in the 60's???' he was off his head on AK47.. stay clear of that stuff, I am not much of a smoker but that stuff is bonkers!! I remember being in Ben & Jerrys at 9am giggling eating loads... went over one year for the queens birthday, we made the mistake of not booking hotel, nightmare... we ended sleeping in central station with all the crack heads, taking it in shifts to stay awake I always wanted to go watch AJAX but never got around to it... hope you have a great trip fella...

Where to stay/What to see in Amsterdam?, by stillborncrisps on Oct 28, 2010 17:22:43 GMT 1, Thanks for all the suggestions, keep them coming.
Man I didn't think there were many cities as expensive as London, but trying to find anything decent for under ยฃ100 a night is proving a challenge!

Where to stay/What to see in Amsterdam?, by Eton Groover on Oct 28, 2010 19:07:52 GMT 1, Lloyds Hotel is where we stayed recently. A few tram stops from Central Station, but a cool place and very reasonable if I remember rightly. Well it is if you choose the budget rooms. www.lloydhotel.com/ The road it is on is full of inteesting modernist architecture. Like I say, a bit out of the way but great.
