What Music are you listening to at the moment ?, by yorkie on May 15, 2017 17:36:38 GMT 1, Also.... related to the music being listened to.... spent Sunday setting up my new deck and amp....
First album on this was 'Gary Numan' Splinter (just had to be) followed by about 6 hours of music from Sex Pistols, Madness, Sham 69, SLF, Lloyd Cole, Bastille, Ultravox, Depeche Mode, Pink Floyd, Suzanne Vega, Ramones.....
I had to stop about 8.30 when the house was invaded by people but next weekend the music vinyl fest continues!!!!
Best wishes

I think the engineering is beautiful!
The sound is getting better..... Initially I was not that impressed with the amp..... however it takes 20 minutes to warm up and I had to play with the speaker placement and the dampers at the back (two big holes with plugs that needed to be changed to see which gave the right sound for the room)..... by 4pm yesterday I was cooking on gas and the sound was mind-blowing!
Thats what annoyed me a little bit as it felt like I'd just got it right and my listening pleasure was interrupted.... not next weekend!
Best wishes
Yorkie

Best wishes Yorkie I don't think i'm as much a purist as you, i can't see myself getting back into records, I like spotify more I think. Also I am a bit of a nightmare as i am very happy to change tracks half way through while looking for a song that hits the spot and it may take 40 changes before i get there, so yeah albums are not for me
However i love the idea of a valve amp, i have a couple of decent yamaha multi zone amps and around 10 decent Monitor audio speakers scattered around. From reading the blurb the valve amps appear to make things sound warmer? can you recommend any? is it blasphemy to get one with wifi or bluetooth? or does it defeat it sound wise?
love the look of your set up, do the valves glow in the dark ? :-)

Valve amps are warmer but they do take time to warm up.... (I have to confess that I also have a massive catalogue of CD's that I transferred to digital about 5 years ago - did you know that Gary Numan has 98 albums available in one form or another!) so to get access to this on this system I connected it to the rest of the house which is all Sonos .... 7 play 1's, 2 x play 3's 4 x play 5's - 3 soundbars and 2 subs..... to this by using a Sonos connect..... even these digital songs sound better through the amp!
Which one? I guess that depends on in which country you live.... I went for VPI as they only produced 100 of these and the owner wanted to have an 'affordable' - this is a good writeup... amp..... www.audiophilia.com/reviews/2016/3/30/vpi-299d-integrated-tube-amplifier
I looked at all of the Rogers range and the one I wanted would need a Phono amp as well which took the total price out of the budget that I had set myself (which was already erm... 50% more than I had disclosed to my better half)....
The other big thing I spent lots on (well to me it was lots) is the cables - don't skimp!
Nothing wrong with digital music - spotify or pandora but also.... nothing better than putting on an album and letting it run all the way through (That's Life - by Sham 69 - classic album that tells a story so you need to listen in order)...
Hey, In my second year of University I blew my whole grant cheque on a Pink Triangle turntable, Naim pre/power amp and some wharf dale speakers...... no money for food but the sound in my rented house was fucking amazing!
Love art and love music!

What Music are you listening to at the moment ?, by Flashback on May 16, 2017 20:00:39 GMT 1, I see your Trouble funk and raise you - I'll see our Planet Rock and raise you It was in reply to this -
'Love that Kraftwerk album...but also love the funkiest version ever made of the title track! '
Both use Kraftwerk - Trans Europe express:)
The one I put up (Adam's family remix) is probably the rarest remix of planet rock there is.
I'm going to see Kraftwerk in a few weeks time...then on a flight to Ibiza at 5.30am just after it!

What Music are you listening to at the moment ?, by thugs on May 17, 2017 22:04:44 GMT 1, whilst i enjoy your moodily-filtered photos of the music you're listening too, nobody can hear them.
i play each and every single youtube video i come across posted by users in this thread, and as a result i've discovered a number of great songs and musicians i'd previously been unaware of, and all without even having to leave this page.
do keep posting your pics, but post a youtube clip too and share the aural experience.
