Crazy Jake new print release, by Michael Jacob on Jul 1, 2010 15:00:29 GMT 1, ***shameless plug due to all the traffic on the forum tonight*** NO LINES HERE, STEP UP AND BUY!
Thanks to all who entered the giveaway. The four winners are listed below. Thanks again to Silky and all the forum members. Without you, none of my art success would have happened. It all started here! Some great stuff is in the works.
This print series is a homage to Warhol. It was Warhol who got me interested in art early on. I still remember seeing his piece titled โLemon.โ Ive always loved his Marilyn Monroe and Campbell Soup Can prints. It was then Banksy who got me doing it, after I saw โNapalmโ on ebay. While this style is not the direction Im heading in now artistically (which is much more contemporary/conceptual), I have wanted to do this piece for a long time.
If you want to buy a print (or series), please PM me.
Pieces are approximately 60x60cm. 4 colorways; edition of 25 each (pink, hot pink, blue and yellow backgrounds) Cost 50 Pounds each. Forum members can buy a matching number set for 150 Pounds. Shipping is a flat 10 Pounds, anywhere in the world.

Crazy Jake new print release, by Strange Al on Jul 1, 2010 20:10:19 GMT 1, Jake - I think it's fantastic that you're creating stuff and getting your work out there. Moreover, I enjoy your contributions to the forum and you're always very generous with your releases.
Though, I'm not sure I really understand this piece or where you're going with it. Aside from being a "homage" to Warhol, what is the concept here? Didn't Warhol do some Diana portraits himself. You say you've been wanting to do this piece for a while and so I'm intrigued to hear some more.
I'm guessing you chose today to announce the print, given that it would have been Di's birthday.

Crazy Jake new print release, by froz on Jul 1, 2010 20:39:57 GMT 1, I think he is talking about an homage to the Monroe Warhol pieces and the fact that Diana was also an iconic figure as Marilynn Monroe was. He could of taken Marilynns Hair and put it on and create a "Mr. Brainwash Warhol" but no, he kept the original picture intact to not only pay respect but also to show how she should be remembered
Just my .02

Crazy Jake new print release, by Michael Jacob on Jul 1, 2010 21:03:51 GMT 1, StrangersA Thanks for the post. Your question is a good one, and I dont have an answer that makes alot of sense. I did this piece for my respect of Warhol, respect of Banksy and the respect of Princess Diana. As froz said, Princess Diana is the iconic image to me, as Monroe was to Marilynn (kind of anyway). Warhol motivated me to appreciate art. Banksy motivated me to create art. Diana motivated me for her beauty, class and charitable contributions she was able to do.
As I said, this style is not my style. My work is much more conceptual in nature. I did this piece because of what I mentioned above. It is something I felt compelled to do.
As for the hair comment by froz, I first tried using Marilynn hair, like Banksy did on Moss, but I didnt like it.
Heres where I get emotional
Art is shit. It is as simple as that. Art that is hanging on walls is shit.s**t in the sense that it is an aftermath of the artists journey. True art is an experience. It is an expression. Granite, some art is good, some is bad, and some truely is shit (the kind that stinks). Art is personal, at least for me. The hardest part of art is exposing yourself to peoples opinion. Its not like the good old days of giving your mom a rock you painted with mud, only to be rewarded with hugs and kisses. Putting art out there exposes yourself. Ive had great responses on this forum, and terrible ones. I must admit thought, Ive been on this forum since 2006, and through the good and the bad, there's no place Id rather be. Even though Ive not met many of you face to face, I feel like I know you.
Enough babble. Hope this make at least a little sense.
Thanks

Princess "die" was more of a modern day Jackie K. than Monroe. PE did nail it with his take on the death and disaster series.
Let's not forget that the Warhol already produced an image of the peoples princess
aka Wayne Gretzky, the greatest ice hockey player to grace this earth.

Crazy Jake new print release, by froz on Sept 2, 2010 16:29:23 GMT 1, And here she is...a 4 set mind you and what an incredible beauty they are...really the colors POP off the page. The pdf images do not do this print justice.
24x24 with a 1" border around it so the image is actually 22x22 which helps with framing in my opinion since it already gives that nice little border I do not think you will need to get a matte, but you can if you'd like.
thanks for the great prints crazy Jake! The girlfriend loves them...now to get these framed...
Thruthfully...images don't do this print justice...I tried to get these to look as bright as they are in my apartment...but i still do not think they are.
