PS 3 - Playstation, by Coach on Nov 28, 2010 20:47:17 GMT 1, My yongest has an xbox. He tested the motion/no controllers thingymajig today. It was very easy to use, worked really well, and he loved it. If they have their hearts set on a ps3, then this doesnt help much. Good luck! c

Don't know if this of any interest to you, a friend pointed it out to me earlier when I was talking about getting myself a new ps3....
Looks a great deal if you are in need of a new phone contract.

PS 3 - Playstation, by Strange Al on Nov 29, 2010 2:03:27 GMT 1, 1. Yes. It's the newer version and basically an all around improvement.
2. The ps3 makes for a very good multimedia hub - games, blu-ray, music, surfing the net, iplayer, pvr, etc. Naturally, more memory means you can save more files. If you can see yourself (or your kids) doing a lot of downloading, uploading or otherwise saving content then go for the bigger memory.
3. No. That's all you'll need to start. Though don't know if they now come bundled with a hdmi cable, so if you've got a hd tv (which I assume you have) then double check. Plus, the remote control is handy. If you want to use it as a pvr, then you'll also need to buy a Play tv add on.

PS 3 - Playstation, by Dellboyy on Nov 29, 2010 11:16:13 GMT 1, I'd definitely go for the bigger hard drive option, i've got an 80gig ps3 and you'd be surprised at how fast that gets filled with all the game updates & demos!

PS 3 - Playstation, by shakey1181 on Nov 29, 2010 13:48:17 GMT 1, agree with dellboyy, bigger the memory the better (i also have 80gb). Slim line is also the way forward, the older ones make a fair amount of noise. If they're going to use it for movies, downloads etc, can beat the larger memory models.

PS 3 - Playstation, by Strange Al on Nov 30, 2010 0:02:13 GMT 1, Bigger memory is for storing content, which can include games and demos (as well as movies, music, etc). Though the basic playing of games, saving progress etc doesn't use a lot of memory. Not sure on best deals at the moment - though definitely worth doing some comparisons on bundles, which it sounds like you're doing.
