Vandal Airways Framing, by bobbyt23 on Apr 30, 2008 13:27:16 GMT 1, Got a bit bored at work today so was having a play on eframe to do a mock up of how I think I'd like my Vandal Airways framed.
So how are other people gonna do theirs and is this too garish??

Vandal Airways Framing, by atomone on Apr 30, 2008 13:51:46 GMT 1, Quite like the eggshell blue border but not that extra royal blue border! Think i'll frame mine exactly the same as my TMA London (as was framed to match the one at white noise which was on show) float mounted on white with an acid free mount surround of 10mm and surrounded by a white frame, bit predictable I know but less is more for me and keeps the image purer and more focussed! Would be good to see the first few framed pics posted soon incase there are better frame suggestions..

Vandal Airways Framing, by Mister Frame Man on Apr 30, 2008 14:51:54 GMT 1, I quite fancy doing one of these in a silver frame, but splatting paint on the frame or on the mountboard to replicate "The Vandal" look - Anyone fancy letting me experiment for a "special" price?

Vandal Airways Framing, by rrrich on Apr 30, 2008 15:37:48 GMT 1, wheres the option on there to upload your pic?
also, has anyone got frames from there? just wondering how easy it is to put prints in the frame yourself and if you need the adhesive they offer to fix it in.

Vandal Airways Framing, by bobbyt23 on Apr 30, 2008 15:42:28 GMT 1, There isn't an upload option. I just played about in photoshop.
I have bought a frame from them before but only put a cheap print in it. Not sure how prints are secured normally and didn't want to risk doing it with one of my pricier ones.

We too can make any size frame and supply with glass and board at a very good price! Obviously, this wouldn't class as conservation framing, but we can do basic cheap frames!

Vandal Airways Framing, by atomone on Apr 30, 2008 16:42:20 GMT 1, Much fresher! like the detail of picking one of the colours from the plane! definately a white frame for sure too! very temped with Gary's silver frame and paint details too, sounds different, would also look good splatted on a white frame, or would it detract from the image itself? hmm decisions decisions...

This is my favorite so far. I wouldn't go to heavy on the blue. It's about the print not the frame.

Try this:
www.fastframes.co.uk/acatalog/Picture_Framing.html
choose your frame, upload your image, change wall colour. Very cool tool. Never bought a custom frame there yet, but the off the shelf stuff was tip top.

YES!
I will never understand the British fascination with white frames.

Vandal Airways Framing, by Dellboyy on Apr 30, 2008 20:15:18 GMT 1, I've seen a few pics on this forum where white frames work really well, but usually i always prefer a slightly darker frame... especially with a print like this!
Plus pretty much everything i've got framed is to the picture, think it gives it a more balanced feel in my opinion!

Vandal Airways Framing, by todd on Apr 30, 2008 22:52:27 GMT 1, speaking to the point of white frames, i am a new convert, they are awesome and allow the print to really pop. also, i must add that in my opinion, you'd be crazy to cover up the edition # and signature, not to mention the killer black rat presss blindstamp and the beautiful deckled edge of the paper... so obviously, my suggestion is to float it. peace.

Vandal Airways Framing, by Winter on Apr 30, 2008 22:57:55 GMT 1, I don't get being creative with frames. Trying to enhance the image with various borders and mounts is like buying a perfectly decent car and sticking a body kit on it. A car is designed to look a certain way, the same with a piece of art. Let it speak for itself. Simply nail it to the wall.

don't worry, i'm with you on this one. i've always thought deckled edges look a little tacky. besides, deckled edges from POW, are you kidding me? how often do they ever arrive without a minor ding somewhere? i know it is the nature of the paper and is to be expected, but if i had to look at that everyday, it would drive me crazy. i'd be looking at the f'n deckled edges and not the print itself. i'm probably a perfectionist myself then.
