Agent Provocateur π¬π§ Street Artwork, Herrods, Stencil Art, by Agent Provocateur on Apr 18, 2008 15:13:05 GMT 1, hi all
just a quick update... and much to my (happy) surprise , the 'second coming' canvas has now sold out ;D. i have the final one to package up this weekend together with one of the special edition 'limited edition' tigers and then that's it for easter this year.
i'd just like to thank the people that bought one, because it was the first piece i have shown anyone, everyone has been a pleasure to deal with... so much so i even added a special stencil onto the packaging so they got a little piece of AP for free ;D
cheers AP

Great stencilled packaging and a Limited Edition on the way too. Top work indeed. Photos to follow soon. I'm very interested in seeing any street work if any has been done. If not then get out there and give it a blast. You'll go down well I'm sure.

And now here's the bulls**t :
'Biggles (otherwise known as a 'flying rat'), an old school flyer who was abducted by evil scientists when he was very young. They experimented on him surgically implanting 2,000lb bombs to his wings. Luckily he escaped and has been flying the skies of Britain ever since, endlessly searching for the evil scientist's secret base so he can exact revenge. His old school flying goggles, leather, metal and lambs wool his favourite flying aides.'
This piece is my latest work trying to use a bit more texture colour and depth... rather than the really simplistic and iconic style of some of my previous work.
When I had started thinking about the piece, and having done the grey cloud version already, I had the idea of him flying above a burning city dodging searchlights that the evil scientists were using to hunt and destroy him.
Another detail, apart from the more atomospheric style, is that I used a small amount of silver and quite a bit of gold on the piece. Little did I realise this would come into it's own at night when you light it. If you have a spotlight on it it begins to sparkle and certain parts of the detailing stand out more (differently to during the day). Plus, when you walk buy it there is a slight lenticular effect, because you are changing the angle and the light is reflecting off the gold the image seems to shift.
2nd (already sold)
Let me know what you think! I'd love to get comments . Also, if you'de like to see more have a look at my rudimentary website www.aprovocateur.co.uk
And don't forget, 'Biggles' in grey clouds is up for auction in the Burma charity thread (at the top of the main section). Currently (19:00 on the 19 May 2008) the highest bid is Β£120... so if you're interested have a little bid, remembering it's for a great cause .

Here's them in production...
I am really happy with them, and love how the gold works with the other colours to give warmth and depth to the image ;D
Looking forward to some lively debate about the overuse of bombs

Agent Provocateur π¬π§ Street Artwork, Herrods, Stencil Art, by Agent Provocateur on Aug 15, 2008 14:05:08 GMT 1, Only me, just thought I'd pop a quick thread on the board as I haven't shown some of my latest pieces on here for a while . The good news is tho, the reason why I haven't posted is because I have been ludiscrously busy finishing off a couple of editions and commissions whilst working on a new large diptych (a bit more on that below .
Having had a lot of interest on the 'Biggles' front, and in discussion with one member on here, I completed an edition of 12 'Biggles in searchlights' on MDF with a couple of APs (which are now all gone). I also finished three special versions of this piece on some lovely gnarly wood, one of which was a commission which is below.
The AP'HQ' packaging elves surpassed themselves for this piece, creating a bespoke cardboard box, hand sprayed including a simple white stencil on the top... have a look and feel free to comment.
There is another version on a long piece of wood that is available to buy on my web site www.aprovocateur.co.uk (AP'HQ' page).
Some of you have probably seen my 'Lip service' piece, the green lipped canvas version, but for the last couple of months I have been sitting on an extra special 'bling' version. The texture created by spraying a light mist of gold over the pure black background, then adding the yellow lips before the black outline created a texture a bit like velvet.
Although I haven't shown (m)any people one is already sold , but there are still two available.
Another little escapade that kept me busy for a while was my first exhibition ('Free for wall 2' at the Brick Lane Gallery). Once I had confirmation they wanted me to show some of my work I decided to do my 'Royal flush' stencil, a very tongue in cheek vision of Prince Charles caught out at a fancy dress party (the idea proably stems from my complete lack of poker playing ability ;D). This is my largest piece to date measuring aprroximately 5 by 3 (that's feet).
This pic was taken when it was hanging in the gallery (cheers MJ). And to keep all you peeps intrigued, there may be a small canvas edition of this coming along in the very near future. There are other exciting things happening on the 'Royal flush' front but I couldn't possibly comment until certain things are finalised .
Annnd finally... to the future ;D. As well as all of that I am currently working on a large diptych on wood (or possibly canvas, haven't decided!) to continue the 'Biggles' story. To say I am excited about it would be an understatement ;D, but I am taking my time and doing a number of tests to get it looking as good as I possibly can. And to those people who have seen some of the tests so far, sorry it hasn't moved on as fast as I'd hoped, but bear with me please .
Below is one of the tests, it is on a huge piece of decaying wood (about 4 by 4 foot) and I had to respray it three times because it wasn't turning out how I wanted it! The title is 'Attack'.
Ahhh as usual, far too long and rambling! Well to everyone that made it down this far, cheers ;D. Mucho appreciated. All comments, ideas, advice, sly digs, abuse and arcane references welcomed.
I have just recently updated me little website www.aprovocateur.co.uk, so if the images above haven't put you off nip over to the sight and have a look at all the other stuff I've forgotten to mention.

Agent Provocateur π¬π§ Street Artwork, Herrods, Stencil Art, by Agent Provocateur on Aug 27, 2008 10:17:40 GMT 1, This is no great shakes, it's just a little stencil about the size of the palm of my hand. I had watched a documentary on how much work some of the athletes go through in their four year training schedule building up to the Olympics, and was stunned by the sheer determination, passion and hard work needed!
So I came up with the 'Olympian'... my little (approx. 5" tall) testament to everyone that strives for what they believe in and are not afraid of a bit of hard work on the way ;D. This test on cardboard is the 'Gold' version but I have done a set of mini grey canvases (10"x10") in 'Gold', 'Silver' and 'Bronze'.
Let me know what you think... ;D

I often look for a wry social comment or particular point (whether subtle or in-your-face) to get across in some of my pieces but this little guy just turned out as a clean, simple and (hopefully) strong image.
Another piece I'm working on will definitely have a stronger message about our current times... whether it floats anyones boat or not is another matter. But hopefully it will stimulate a bit of debate ;D

Agent Provocateur π¬π§ Street Artwork, Herrods, Stencil Art, by crazyarsemother on Sept 3, 2008 11:55:06 GMT 1, Cheers AP. I think it sings. Especially on the cardboard. I guess its about what motivates you as an artist. I have seen lots of otherwise aesthetically interesting pieces ruined due to a needless satirical element being shoe horned in for the sake of it or worse because thats what Banksy might have done. I did all that on art foundation. I think I maybe belong to the expressive neo-celebratory movement - celebrating aspects of the global village rather than concentrating on its short-comings. A more expressive approach feels rather less removed from the artist to me. But then I guess stencilling by its very method is rather removed.
