Agent Provocateur π¬π§ Street Artwork, Herrods, Stencil Art, by Agent Provocateur on Mar 21, 2008 14:12:27 GMT 1, On this happy and pious holiday weekend I thought you all might be interested in a bit of religeous art... what if... Jesus came back to save our souls, what would he charge to open a supermarket?
It's called 'Second coming'
Comments, opinions, swearing, bafflement... are not required but would be amusing!
Have a great weekend, may all your walls be lined with Banksy's ;D

Agent Provocateur π¬π§ Street Artwork, Herrods, Stencil Art, by robertlondon on Mar 21, 2008 16:40:05 GMT 1, Are the handles on the scissors hand painted?... no no don't want to start that off again.
At least it makes a change to see something that's not children with weapons of war, scantily clad women with weapons of war, the war, more war, modifying other artists work, modifying the war blah-de-blah... it's all been done to death...
I like the positioning and simplicity of the image.

Agent Provocateur π¬π§ Street Artwork, Herrods, Stencil Art, by Heavyconsumer on Mar 21, 2008 17:38:18 GMT 1, there you go agentprovocateur, some swearing for you. Nice piece by the way, I like it's simplicity and the fact that it's actually an original take for a change (although it does rmind me of Christ With Shopping bags a bit), as mentioned by others above. It can't be too bad, as my Mrs hates it - normally a good indicator of quality! Go forth with confidence dude. I would guess your work and style would grow and evolve a lot faster than if you keep yourself locked away working in stealth mode.

Agent Provocateur π¬π§ Street Artwork, Herrods, Stencil Art, by jamesreeve5 on Mar 21, 2008 17:47:28 GMT 1, James, have you some better, home-made offerrings for us, or are you not only a complete cvnt, but one who also has no talent?
I have talents, but much like agentprovocateur I am not very talented at art. But if I did post my work I would have the decency to put it in the proper section of the forum and I wouldn't put a misleading title at the top to try and get unsuspecting people to look at my work.

Agent Provocateur π¬π§ Street Artwork, Herrods, Stencil Art, by funyoung on Mar 21, 2008 19:02:47 GMT 1, I rather like it - it seems to say 'i declare easter open, everyone is welcome' not an anti Christianity message so often found these days.
Does have a finite life span though doesn't it - bit like Christmas decorations or my car's convertible roof in England - only really useful for a couple of weeks a year.

Agent Provocateur π¬π§ Street Artwork, Herrods, Stencil Art, by jamesreeve5 on Mar 21, 2008 22:20:42 GMT 1, Agent P, if you honestly did not know there was a new artist forum, then I apologize. And I have to give you credit that you aren't trying to sell it to us. It just gets frustrating when so many artists post in the wrong forum. I'm sure you can see it's gotten out of hand as we have some unknown "artist" trying to sell a print of a foopa and a gun for 100 quid.
**I have edited my first post in this thread**
And bigman, I fully support Leigh LeDare. Once he finishes getting his MFA at Columbia he is going to be big.

Agent Provocateur π¬π§ Street Artwork, Herrods, Stencil Art, by Agent Provocateur on Mar 21, 2008 23:45:30 GMT 1, no worries james... i honestly didn't know about this place.
i did the post because i had just completed the canvas for easter and thought it would be a tongue in cheek talking point whilst wishing you guys and gals all a great holiday.
i was also hoping to stimulate a little debate about the mass of consumerism that happens at easter (and also christmas). people love the long weekend, but only focus on the chocolate, tv movies and long getaways.
weirdly i am not a religious nut, but fascinated by peoples ability turn a blind eye to things that they don't feel comfortable or agree with.
not to go on... but someone may find it an interesting and amusing thought... if there actually was a second coming, just imagine the hype surround jesus! how many reporters would want an interview. the paparazzi would have a field day. so with all the attention, would he have to hire a pr company? how about a mobile phone or email address? they'd be good to have
and so with the print i took it one stage further and got him doing an appearance at a supermarket for the grand opening of easter. combining the consumption and big business side of religious holidays with the media hype and interest that would surround the son of god.
mmm enough of my ramblings.
i may return as stealth mode is now off

Agent Provocateur π¬π§ Street Artwork, Herrods, Stencil Art, by Agent Provocateur on Mar 23, 2008 13:33:03 GMT 1, good morning all... i thought i'd post a couple of my early stencils for your comments!
i posted one of my pieces for the first time on the board yesterday, a little tongue-in-cheek easter canvas (in the wrong place ) called 'second coming' (see the thread 'happy easter... with an irreverant twist') and got some positive comments and advice one of which was to take my stealth mode off and post more of my work(!), thanks gvd.
so below are two early stencils on card (sorry for the poor quality images, phone camera i'm afraid)...
'limited edition' a comment on our greed and avarice for exclusive and expensive limited editions without a thought for the effect on poorer economies and the wildlife
'second coming' this is a powerful sketch for the similarly titled canvas (see my explanation at the end of the thread mentioned above)... i really like the weight of line and blur
let me know if you have any feelings either way... as usual, comments (positive and negative), advice, indifference, swearing and rapture will be taken on the chin ;D
hope you're all having a cosy easter indoors!

I'd give the tiger some colour, and keep the nike sign white, so it really stands out. But good effort for you first couple of stencils .

Agent Provocateur π¬π§ Street Artwork, Herrods, Stencil Art, by Agent Provocateur on Mar 23, 2008 14:31:52 GMT 1, cheers gvd
i have also done this white version... but not just the logo. one of my reasons for not separating the logo from the tiger was the simplicity and singularity of the tiger/logo combination. i love playing with positive and negative shapes. similary with the lack of background, i placed the tiger in the right of the composition to give the feeling of space and movement without having to include any environmental forms.
the idea behind all my early work was to see just how simple the shapes and lines could be whilst still conveying the message clearly. colour, texture and mixed media follows these early studies...

Agent Provocateur π¬π§ Street Artwork, Herrods, Stencil Art, by funyoung on Mar 23, 2008 16:53:07 GMT 1, Like the tiger but like GVD I feel the Nike sign needs to be bought out. Understand your reasons for not doing this however. What happens if you had the Nike sign in black with the rest the same? Or make in black and smaller? My reason for this is that on first glance it looked as though you had 'missed a bit' before realising it was the nike logo. I prefer the first image (white background) to the second (cardboard) as it looks stronger. Turns into a bengalese tiger (is that right?) in the second one.
