Using old Misterframeman frames for new prints, by jackcuzzy on Jan 13, 2011 11:35:38 GMT 1,
I own these 2 TLP prints (my picture) but want to sell the one on the right to buy another TLP print. How easy is it to put a new print in an old frame? I am hoping that my new print will slot right into the existing frame but I may need to alter the matting. Do you know how easy it is to do by myself? Do you know if Gary can reframe prints without it costing too much?
It's either that or sell the print with the frame and get a new frame made up by Gary for the new print.
Sorry, I'm a real frame noob!
Cheers, Jack

Using old Misterframeman frames for new prints, by connecta1 on Jan 13, 2011 13:14:46 GMT 1, ...sorry to crash the thread but I have a similar issue, looking at buying something in a damaged black box frame, is it possible to reframe but re-using glass/mounts etc?

Using old Misterframeman frames for new prints, by murdock on Jan 13, 2011 14:25:04 GMT 1, It's definitely possible, but obviously depends on print/image size and how the original frame was made. Sometimes it is taped on the back, so you would need to re-tape it yourself in the end.
But bottom line ist still: you can re-use everything if the image/print fits, and if it's just a problem of the mount, you can either cut it bigger (depending on your skill) or just buy another mount. This is still way cheaper, than buying the whole shebang...
Having said all that: It's still a thrill to arrive at the framer's with a new print and get back there some time later and receive it minty framed in a new one that is up to the inch designed to hold that new image.
All a question of money, I guess...

Using old Misterframeman frames for new prints, by jackcuzzy on Jan 13, 2011 14:45:35 GMT 1, Thanks for your advice. The current print is 75 x 55 but the new one is 77 x 55. It Gary makes them without any extra room, I might need to get a new frame.

Using old Misterframeman frames for new prints, by murdock on Jan 13, 2011 17:16:36 GMT 1, If you are not too short on the money, you can keep the old one until the new one is in hand, check for size, and then decide.
From the pic it seems like there is enogh room for 2 extra inches of print. Otherwise, I would not exactly understand, why he used a mount. Still, it depends on the new image.
Good luck with it
