Space Invader CCTV on Ebay, by Nico on Jan 16, 2011 1:20:58 GMT 1, I have reported it to ebay as stolen property. The legal definition of theft is: "A person is guilty of theft if he dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it." This seller took the tiles which belong to Invader and is selling it. Guilty as charged
"tiles which belong to Invader"? haha...that's cute considering it's not quite glued to his wall is it? (again I repeat, I am not happy with the removal, but Invader's tiles....pfffff)

Doesn't matter if it is glued to his wall or not.
If you come round to my house and leave your mobile phone here the phone is still yours despite you leaving it. If I keep the phone permanently or sell it to someone else, knowing it is yours then I am stealing your phone.
In the eyes of the law Invader may be guilty of vandalism but the tiles are clearly his.

Space Invader CCTV on Ebay, by tezpellet on Jan 17, 2011 22:06:12 GMT 1, this annoys me so much,
yeah when i 1st started to like invader i thought it would be an easy way to start a collection by removing them but, why is that fair, i wouldn't go to an art gallery and steal a peice of work off the wall there,
so like any other like minded individual i saved my cash and im now the proud owner of 1 print and 1 tile to the tune of just over ยฃ500 without framing,
i really do hope the person who is thinking of buying this peice (as there will be) has a second though for 2 reasons.
1. Its wrong to buy it as its stolen property (either it being invaders or the wall owners) 2. you wont get provenance from space invader.
with this in mind you'll be a fool to but it and will be wasting your hard earned cash
save it go to lazirides and buy one of these instead.
www.lazinc.com/artists/invader/original-art/3120/ or something similar.
regards T

Space Invader CCTV on Ebay, by tezpellet on Jan 18, 2011 20:13:35 GMT 1, just got this
"** This is an automated email to acknowledge receipt of your report. Please do not respond to this email. If you need to, you can contact us from any eBay Help page.**
------------------- Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to report a seller who you suspect is offering stolen goods on eBay.
The sale of stolen goods is forbidden on eBay because it's against the law to sell stolen property. eBay strongly supports law enforcement efforts to recover stolen property listed on its website. However, we can only investigate such a serious allegation if it comes from the police.
If you believe that an item on eBay may be a stolen item, please inform your local police and ask them to get in touch with us. The investigating officer can then use the contact details provided in our Safety Centre:
pages.ebay.co.uk/safetycentre/law_enforcement.html
We know your time is valuable and we appreciate you taking a moment to express your concern to us. Thank you for helping to keep eBay a safe, fun place to shop.
Regards,
eBay Trust & Safety
can you imagine the response from the police,
"is it your property, urm, no, well theres nothing we can do about it then"
ahh well

eBay can't do anything unless you prove it's stolen. Quite frankly it probably doesn't bother them that it's up for sale and the effort it would take to launch an investigation on their part would take a lot of effort.

Space Invader CCTV on Ebay, by Cedric Mnich on Jan 18, 2011 20:53:55 GMT 1, Not much can be done. Either report the item as stolen. Or bid on the item on stupid amounts and with fake ebay accounts (if it is possible) in order to have the guy pay for fees and have to repost the item. And leave negative feedback in order to impeach his ebay account (which was obviously created for that sale).

Space Invader CCTV on Ebay, by gibbin82 on Jan 22, 2011 2:20:13 GMT 1, The listing has been removed by eBay, to be honest i am really surprised as they usually don't care as long as they can make their profits from the fees. Somebody must have put forward a really good case for them to remove the listing, unfortunately it doesn't put it back where it belongs if it is genuine or stop the clown from making some money from it selling it somewhere else or even again on eBay under a new identity. It is a shame someone didn't offer to buy it on a collect option and then removed or damage something he valued.

I understand preserving a piece if a building is being taken down but this is very very sad. Apparently this guy went on to offer this piece to various galleries, asking silly money. 18k!
