What's stopping someone from organising 20, 30, 40 + poeple to queue all night and issue them with payment cards - flip them all and make a killing?

Nothing, but with a lottery they could get the entire country of Poland to enter. There is no perfect method to release the print. I think last year the way they did it worked out rather well.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by twinkle on Nov 28, 2010 18:00:47 GMT 1, The queue (is this the most misspelled word ever btw?!) last year was an ok experience, yes it was bl00dy cold at times but for the couple hundred that braved the weather they earned their print that night and a good number enjoyed the challenge too. Was there much flipping? Of course some, but ebay isn't littered with the NBG Grey anymore so they have now all found happy homes too I guess...I have no problem with that.
1. A queue release is fair. If you really really want one, you can guarantee one, you just have to earn it. If you want to flip the print, likewise, earn it. 2. A lottery for a second edition is fair for those that don't want to queue or can't. I'd like to see a bigger quota go to the UK, just because the queue is not convenient for all in the UK. 3. The only debate really seems to be about the weather and to know what will actually happen makes you some sort of fortune teller. We are all capable of making contigencies for cold weather. If you don't prepare for it properly it's only your fault and no-one else. I can't see what the fuss is about, you are free to choose to queue or not to queue.....and that IS the question!

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by Deleted on Nov 28, 2010 18:10:55 GMT 1, I find myself in pretty much total agreement (!) with Freerange on this one, doesn't matter how bleeding good your sleeping bag is there's available alternatives on offer so that people DON'T have to sleep on the street if they WANT to secure a print then these should be explored (and probably are).
I agree that there should not necessarily be favouritism shown to people who don't live in London - it takes as long to get from Cornwall to London as it does from Malaga (or longer).

Is it true that POW check the IP address - not the e-mail address ensuring 'one print' kinda thing?

Yep, there is an option on mailing lists to only allow one email per ip address. They tell you if there has been multiples from one ip address. We use it on the jboy mailing list, so multiple entries cannot enter multiple times. So its actually pretty pointless doing multiple emails unless you enter from multiple ip addresses

but they still send out notification messages to all the email address's ?? Doesnt ban the multiples as such...
Just curious as to how it all works..

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by Gentle Mental on Nov 28, 2010 19:04:32 GMT 1, calling POW inhumane is very odd...
i think the q is fair. I would if I could.
In fact it's one of the fairest way -
It's not about ip address or how fast you internet speed is, or how many email address you submit with different names and multiple ip ...
It's about the ones who want it bad enough deserve to have it. Be it to flip or otherwise - no matter. If you do it purely for money - you must really need the money - if you do it for the art - then you must really love the art. It's all good.
The Jerusalem sale was exactly that - if you want it bad enough for whatever reasons - go to one of the most dangerous place on Earth to get it.
But if you want all the editions to be up online because you got all the hands-on technical, ip knowledge to be really good at lottery - way more IT skillz than the average collector - then.... that can be extremely lopsided.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by hupster on Nov 28, 2010 19:07:44 GMT 1, Whats the point on going on and on and on. POW will have a plan and they will stick to it. We dont know what is going to happen until the email comes out so just wait till then to start moaning. Otherwise everyone will just repeat the same s**t in 1 or 2 or 3 weeks time when they do tell us how to get the print.
POW are a business afterall, so what everyone is doing on here will confirm their business plan is working.
Like i said befor if its a que then im there, if is a f5 bun fight then im in and if its a swim across the chanel to france then feck that.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by Dave on Nov 28, 2010 19:16:46 GMT 1, I queued up last year and was number 8 in the queue (24 hrs), the reason I did it was because I like the effort = reward principle. It was a massive hassle as I had to get time off work etc etc, it was very very cold and at times a struggle. Was it worth it? YES with out a doubt!
I really really wanted my first Banksy and really really want my second one so please POW do the right thing and sell the print in the shop. Doing this allows those who want to put the effort in a guaranteed print.
JBoy as usual you try to go against the grain this must be because either -
(a) your out of the country and can't queue (b) have a social phobia

me too!
Banksy's walking Haring's dog.... that's possibly how he feels sometimes.. big shoes to fill... a legacy to uphold, a business to take care of etc etc
it's a happy personal statement from an artist who's matured and comfortable enough to take things less seriously..
but it lacks that bitchy bite. oooh miss that bitchy bite.. yelp!!

I reckon it's the hoopla. I'm glad there wasn't a release for a year! This thread is just as boring as shops hanging Xmas decorations in October. Woohoo!

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by lvc on Nov 28, 2010 19:27:35 GMT 1, Completely disagree with j-boy who always seems to have chip on his shoulder.
since 2006 it has impossible to get a banksy print. hackers out there can purchase them before they have even gone live/within a micro second of going live. its not fair to people who take the day off work genuinely pressing f5. Flying to Bethlehem was the only option!!!
I was lucky enough to be able to que last year it was a great experience where TRUE banksy fans rough it out with the exception of the WAGS who want a new Prada handbag out of it and Russian/East Europeans being payed by city boys to que for them.
First come first served is the ONLY fair way, as someone said people que overnight for F***ing trainers! My dad queued for 2 nights to see pink floyd! Get a grip if you cant handle camping! its really not that bad there are hundreds of 24 hour shops around and good company.
I really hope pow do a que, yes its in a dodgy area but whats really gunna happen??
I still have my no ball games framed up as a reminder of those 14 long hours of standing in the cold, was well worth it.
