Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by recycle on Dec 14, 2010 13:03:36 GMT 1, this thread is an utter disgrace. As for the cat stunt , unless you are a straight edge militant vegan don't get all high and mighty over animal cruelty - if you eat meat, wear leather, makeup, you are fueling animal cruelty somewhere down the line, maybe you should do some research - just because you see some animal that you associate with being a household pet being misused it doesn't mean it gives you the right to become moralistic.
So it's ok to throw cats at people because i eat meat??? Excuse me a minute why i go eat a bacon sandwich and kick a dog......

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by Deleted on Dec 14, 2010 13:14:36 GMT 1, Get real POW do care - some are just sore losers I suspect POW were forced to release the print, given the number of people queuing up at Berwick Street - so blame those for forcing POW's hand. Do you honestly believe POW deliberately made people fight or cheat to get a print? There was no preview night There have always been people on here solely to flip - they just dont do it with Banksy's or art. There are some on here who have resorted to far worst things than violence for profit yes you would so its all POW's fault that some behaved liked animals? buy a poster then or isnt that good enough for you? www.picturesonwalls.com/Books_Authors.asp?Author=Banksyno you are bitter because you lucked out. Let me ask you this, if you scored on on Saturday morning, would you have still entered the lottery?

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by hlarmy on Dec 14, 2010 13:25:10 GMT 1, POW is a business they manage one of the biggest artists in the world today, no matter how much security they put into place or how well they monitered the queue, they would never have been able to manage a safe and sound queue overnight.
Not one to jump on the bandwagon (last Friday not included!), this is also complete rubbish!!

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by brain on Dec 14, 2010 13:28:16 GMT 1, Look, I don't think it was Voila's finest hour, nor do I condone it, I have a cat and he's a beauty. But as far as I know Voila are an art collective, therefore they are made up of various different artist, some I would imagine maybe numptys!! Throwing cats is not cool, but they are nimble little things and I'm sure he landed ok. The fact is; two of there members are languishing in prison, not for throwing a cat, but for challenging the government with art as their weapon. Hence the specific print and Banksy support, again he doesn't care about the idiots on this forum that step on each other to increase the wealth of their portfolio, he wanted to raise money to help free his fellow artist's and decided on which image would be most applicable to the cause. P.S. It is funny how some people can get all worked up about cruelty to animals but don't batter an eyelid, say or do anything when it comes to humans getting used, abused, occupied and oppressed. Choose your weapon...
yes, but these guys weren't thrown in jail for putting up a few tags or painting critical pictures, but for flipping over police cars and painting a giant cock on a bridge. funny, yes, but they would go to jail for that in every country on the planet. also the stuff they want to make people aware of aren't getting better really through actions like that, are they?

If i lost fair and square i would not be complaining, i don't have a Nola or Donuts and never had an issue with that, the reason i do not have a CYW is because i chose not to behave like an animal. I have a NBG hanging on my wall which was a great experience for me, this was just a disgusting experience which ever way you look at it. No POW are not reponsible for people acting like thugs but they could have made at least half an effort. Tickets, barriers, up to date information, staff about even if it was just to observe take photos etc. Name me one instance of POW making even the slightest effort on this release?

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by Daniel Silk on Dec 14, 2010 13:31:02 GMT 1, Ideally POW could have organized things better but they are only humans and can make mistakes.
Maybe the hoped the people in this scene where civilized enough that they could at least stand in a line over night without people jumping the queue and causing fights sadly they were wrong! and the only people to blame are the ones who did it.

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by tomega on Dec 14, 2010 13:36:58 GMT 1, By the sounds of things so far removed from the Banksy Bristol show queue. At that queue i was lining-up for 4.5 hours and yet didn't see a hint of trouble, everyone in good spirits from young to the old and even the very old. Wonder what the difference was? Oh yes, thats it, no profit to be made just all about the art.

Unfortuantly POW didn't make any effort at all, yes they got caught by suprise, but there were many things they could have done, even if it was to issue tickets before releasing the news that a release was happening on commercial street.

...but the hype they created by non-communication combined with internet chinese whispers opened this up to a far broader demographic with very different motivations than just 'people in the scene'.
Sadly POW have realised this a little too late.

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by bert on Dec 14, 2010 16:19:50 GMT 1, This thread is like Banksy forum bingo, I call ‘House!’ for ticking off the following…
- 60+ pages of aimless speculation about when the release will be and in what format - 30+ pages of live commentary and stories on the giant bun fight of a queue - A good smattering of bad behaviour from a few forum members to secure a print - Several pages of moaning and complaining about every aspect of the drop from those that missed out - People blindly criticizing POW/People blindly defending POW - 10+ pages of posts about the ‘fairest’ way to release a Banksy print in the future - 20+ pages of posts moaning about flippers and financial motivation - 10+ pages of bad luck posts about how ‘I never win anything’ when that lotto email doesn’t come (I fall into this one) - A few posts proclaiming how everyone has missed the point of the art in their scrabble to get the print - A few posts about the ‘good ol’ days’ on this forum and how this scene is now shit and has been ruined
All the thread is missing are some photos of a few lurid frame jobs, but those’ll be along shortly I’m sure!
It’s been fun though, well done to those that snagged one and I’ll look forward to all the above again when the next release drops.
