Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by gironawatch on Jun 27, 2014 22:08:02 GMT 1, I don't see the point to pay extra 10k for the white, in 10 year from now all will be the same price, silver gold and white will be the same and orange, purple etc.
I have see more white, gold and silver than other colors.

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by Deleted on Jun 28, 2014 2:56:17 GMT 1, I am Soo torn here. the investment move is the CYW white. i get it. but i love the Laugh now i know the AP doesn't have a color change like others. but it is one of the first pulls and a true AP. but he CYW in white is Soo sick!!! the stencil work is really highlighted in that one. and the silver version has a rad flake in the paint. It's unreal. Before anyone disses this situation. it is very real. going direct thru a friend in los angeles and all have COA. SO can you help me this decision? its a lot of money, even on a friends and family deal. but still below price for a NON A/P ( regular signed edition ). I don't think it is right to quote the prices. and i don't want to f**k this up for me, by doing the wrong thing.... you know? I personally think the real investment move is the Laugh Now. CYW is in some weird bubble right now, whereas everyone regards Laugh Now as "classic Banksy," whatever that means. I was also never too crazy about CYW; I think I convinced myself I liked it more recently because of the hype, but it was one of the few Banksy images that I used to tell myself I'd never try to purchase.
Edit: Monkeys.

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by Deleted on Jun 28, 2014 8:56:16 GMT 1, Love a RC! Just can't remember seeing one in decent nick Yeah it is a big problem with it, I think to a degree that's why some of the later Banksys have went beyond some of the classics, not so many issues, people knew the likes of Nola and CYW were already worth decent money when released so they've been better looked after and the quality of the paper is better. I honestly think in the long term smaller issues will become more acceptable with earlier Banksys.

That def was a factor, I think now as his audience is literally worldwide theres appeal across the board except a few like WSM, soupcans etc which appeal moreso to the uk market. Part of the appeal of Nola is its family friendly and now we're seeing other family friendly pieces like NBG, S&S start to rise well. Probably to a degree because some of the others are out of reach to many folk as well, hence the dramatic rise in unsigned lately.

Plus you won't have to go through all the Pest Control dramatics of registering your name as a new owner which is just a ploy to keep prices high.
No other ltd editions are registered each time they change hands.

No dramatics / no ploy and yes there are other editions that are re registered with new ownership. As usual Ploppi, you are incorrect but we love you. Smile Ploppi.

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by Deleted on Jun 28, 2014 12:47:08 GMT 1, IMO the ones that will be the best investment 10-20 years from now will be:
-anything with a rat that is signed -anything with a monkey that is signed -gwb -liita -kate
barcode is beyond incredible, but not something that immediately says 'banksy' to those unfamiliar with the artist (despite the spray logo). so so awesome though. i think it's more a (rightful) favorite among banksy fans than the overall art world though, and that'll show later.
monkeys and rats and girls with balloons, oh my. pretty much.
same thing with any other artist; people want the 'classic' images, so the other rich person walking in doesn't have to ask them who the artist is. half of it is about status when it gets to that level; that's why when you buy a Lichtenstein you want that style, not something from his back catalog that you wouldn't know is a Licht at first sight. for me, i see rat/monkey/kate-marilyn/flower thrower/gwb and i think 'banksy' immediately, as do most i believe.
naturally i love barcode (would do gross things for one), etc. but i see those going down a little.
i personally think cyw is going to plummet. hirst might as well.

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by Deleted on Jun 28, 2014 13:02:35 GMT 1, We're at the tail end of pretty horrific global recession and Banksy prices have risen and risen through it, a vast majority are in private collections and as the prices go up the works are going into collections of wealthier people who don't need/want to sell so many pieces wont resurface for a long while, no new works released for 4 years and unlikely there will be, more and more want them, less and less available, I cant see anything by Banksy going down until another global recession happens or the likes, just my opinion.

I'd say at least a few are wrecked though

I'd hesitate to say "most" but there's plenty of tales around about rats pinned up with drawing pins or put up with sellotape.
On the other hand I've seen some mint stuff from back then that was bought by those with a bit of an idea that this all might take off, doubt anyone saw all this coming though.

They should have a site to keep track of how many in a given edition have been completely destroyed/lost. Would be interesting to know.
