Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by afroken on Dec 4, 2010 17:38:20 GMT 1, I lived in Soho for a year, very close to where the show is. Believe me, you don't want to be queuing all night there. It will get nasty.
But then again, it's just not going to happen. If there is a queue it won't be in Westminster Council.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by tomega on Dec 4, 2010 17:40:24 GMT 1, after about the 200th time explaining who banksy is..gets very tiring! Also its not like its "slap bang in the capital" I would happily Q in the middle of trafalgar square or parliament square with brian haw! even up to the 80's Soho was considered a dangerous uninviting place. All I'm saying is commercial road which is relatively quiet would be far better suited than the west end! (and I can walk there hahahaha) but seriously soho overnight?? Im not lying, next door to POW pop up is a bloody brothel! lots of red lights sleazy porn shops you name it. I'll do it as will everyone else but its just more effort! as i said ..the prints are made on commercial road sell them there!
Back in the the 90s, when i lived in Bromley for a time and then Sutton, I used to visit the capital a lot, with friends from work, and we'd visit Soho in particular. At that time it was always a good place to go to end a good evening out. Many a time, after being in clubs that were open until the early hours would pop along to Soho for one or two last drinks. To be honest we occassionally popped into the sex movie shops but back then movies were VHS. As far as i can remember we were never troubled by anyone and always felt Soho to be a lively but safe place to be. Admittedly that was over a decade ago so may have changed since that time. However, when i visited the Curzon cinema to catch 'Exit through ....' when first shown in London i went to Soho to visit a book shop that i used to go to (bang in middle of Soho - on the corner - which has always sold art-related books from gay porn art, photography such as Richard Kern, Manga art, even bought my Cauty vol 1 + 2 Stamp books from there years ago, right through to mainstream art books) and to me Soho seemed as its always been, a lively yet safe place to be - for me anyway. Obviously there will be crime-related incidents and spates of violence but then thats any city of a weekend, in the early hours, with loads of pissed people roaming the streets. To be honest its not the pimps you should worry about as they won't be thinking about a Banksy release and certainly won't be reading this forum.

Sorry, didn't mean to scaremonger. My post was my thoughts on Soho and how i always felt safe there and also how i think is no worse than anywhere else despite the sex shops & brothels. As i say, just my thoughts based on past experience and would still queue if that's what i had to do. However i was all geared-up for Thursday/Friday release and even had a pass out from my wife and agreed a day off work but won't be able to visit London this weekend or coming week. So will just wait and see what happens when print release is announced.

The queue for Flags was on Oxford Street I think? If POW have security which I'm sure they will Westminster should be cool with this - maybe

Indeed... I've been up there loads of times and have known folks to be mugged at anytime ... esp post 2am. Yeah it's quaint during the day - in a seedy way... late on ... it's a different story. There's a resettlement place.. just up the road and a safe needle place... just round the corner. ... and there's beetroot - up the road if your hungry... that I'd recommend.. otherwise.. nah steer clear.
anyone ere remember the mic queue and the cartoon afterwards ? ( so close... but so far away in terms of dodge).
otherwise afro - i agree - i don't see this happening... pow are not known for being predictable.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by jones27 on Dec 4, 2010 19:54:28 GMT 1, Id much prefer queueing in Soho where theres lots of people, cctv and police than queue somewhere more remote. Can you imagine if POW done a print release on some random British high street at 9am saturday. There would be lots of friday night booze britain fighting, abuse and all sorts from the common valley commando or suburbian Steve and his pissed up mates. Just watch Bravo.
This is irony, I live in central London and hear of horror stories from other parts of Britain, just as those out of towners with preconceptions of Soho.

While waiting in the queue outside the old Footpatrol a prostitute asked what we were there for (Adidas SuperStars 35th) and when she enquired how much they were she told us what she'd do to us for that kind of money... It would make your heads spin.

I got the D-mops....
It was a new years day release and quite a few of the guys had just stayed there all night. Loads of drunks wandering around but no trouble.
The pro was alright... Well might have warmed you up a wee bit.

Love the Ian Browns... wish i'd grabbed a pair when I had the chance.
TBH after winning the Secret 35th model in their leather case it kind of put the D-mops, Footpatrols etc in their place...
