Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by European Bob on Dec 5, 2010 2:31:16 GMT 1, those are nice. I've tried to get a pair of those and Consortiums at realistic prices for so long and eventually gave up. Love the Ian Browns... wish i'd grabbed a pair when I had the chance. TBH after winning the Secret 35th model in their leather case it kind of put the D-mops, Footpatrols etc in their place...
very jealous mate, do you display them? always regretted not going out of my way to try and get a pair of consortiums

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by speebe on Dec 5, 2010 3:02:39 GMT 1, Do you know what EB... Despite being made in to fit me in a UK9.5 I've not even tried them on! They remain tucked away inside the box they were delivered in.
Anywho........ Back to the speculation.
The people who've taken part in the Dran comp are all getting offered the 'Choose your Weapon' Print....
That's what I heard.

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by ©hief' on Dec 5, 2010 8:37:14 GMT 1, Not to be a dik, but i think the Banksy release topics should be private, and viewable only by members of the forum. A lot of the 50,000 views of this topic are bloodthirsty flippers, frothing at the mouth, trying to exploit our knowledge and interest in street art, to make a quick buck. Just my humble opinion.
Good idea. Lock the forum down 'til after the Banksy release. No more new members and all threads set to private for members viewing only.

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by Deleted on Dec 5, 2010 8:46:14 GMT 1, How would you define 'member' though - just someone who's registered for free or pays a subscription for access to certain threads or would you have to make some kind of contribution / level of posts to keep your membership?
I personally don't agree with 'eliteism' which is what this is promoting, if you attend enough events and support the scene then you make friends who will do you favours. POW are very good at keeping secrets, always have been.

The more people on here, the more people that might click his eBay affiliate links.

There would, but the number of anonymous views would always outnumber members. Even the smallish hurdle of registering would put quite a few off.

Meaning the new members would be more likely to come back, once the Banksy release madness stops, and see what else the forum has to offer.
I am not sure, for many people the usefullness starts and stops with a Banksy release. Either to own or flip. There are loads of new members at every release, who register in order to ask questions. The large majority are never seen again.

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by Deleted on Dec 5, 2010 10:33:16 GMT 1, And if Banksy prints didn't offer a significant, immediate financial upside then this wouldn't be a problem - there wasn't a load of grief in 2005/2006 when the prints were released more aligned to market value, used to have days to consider whether to buy signed or unsigned......
I'm not sure Banksy needs a bigger profile so why drop north of £500K on every release? I don't buy the argument that this enables the art to get into the hands of the 'true' fans (although there is some logic here, what it does to a larger extent is make the true fans pay what they would've paid in any event?
Faile's releases are a reasonably good barometer in how to price releases imo with a glance at the market / demand / economy overall.....

I somehow don't think that 50,000 have viewed it. The number is most likely so high as you are all so paranoid about missing out on release information that you keep returning up to a 100 times a day and hence are increasing the viewing figures!

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by Winter on Dec 5, 2010 11:57:16 GMT 1, They should do a competition where you have to answer a number of Banksy related questions. Those who answer all questions correctly get entered into a draw for the chance to buy. This would stop some of those with no interest in Banksy or his work who only buy to sell. Alternatively you should sign a contract where you can't sell for 3 years. I would happily sign that.

AS CLEARLY EVERY MEMBER OF THE FORUM IS AN UPSTANDING INDIVIDUAL WHO HAS NO INTENTION OF BUYING PRINTS TO SELL THEM ON. LAST TIME I LOOKED IT WAS PRETTY MUCH AN EXCHANGE & MART BOARD FOR MEMBERS SELLING ON WORK THEY BOUGHT TO MAKE A BUCK & HAD FAILED, SO WHERE SHIFTING AT WHAT THEY COULD GET
BANKSY SHOULD ONLY RELEASE THE PRINTS TO WHITE STAFFY'S, WE SHOULD BE CHARGED A BOWL OF DOG BISCUITS, AND THEN BE ALLOWED TO PLAY WITH THE PIECE OF PAPER AND TEAR IT TO PIECES. THAT WOULD STOP ALL THE FUSS

Lovely gesture.

This IS the first comment I have made on this thread after days of reading, But I would say most collectors of banksy's work are desperate to get the latest release, I have 3 prints (1 signed) all brought on the secondary market. I am sure there are thousands of others like me who want one at cost, Everyone needs to chill, if they get one at source great, most of my purchases are framed and that is how it should be, Like it or lump it Banksy is an investment and we should count ourselves lucky to get one hopefully for me this year by Lottery.
