Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by rivercity1973 on Dec 11, 2010 17:20:47 GMT 1, the reason many peoplw love Banksy is his ability to convey a message through an image. With all the talent on here meby its time someone made an image to convey the depth of disgust we all share as to the way people were treated last night.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by baznyc on Dec 11, 2010 17:23:15 GMT 1, So which colour did you get then Raiden?
f**k BANKSY AND f**k POW!!!!f**k YOU BANKSY for how you treat your fans. You go ahead and fail to release a print for over a year. You let your secondary market prices for prints that have only been out for 2 years go up to ยฃ3000. THEN you release an edition of 375!!! f**k YOU. Seriously, go f**k yourself Banksy. You're no more of an urban artist anymore than Damien Hirst is at this point - you're a high end gallery artist who happens to do street pieces. "Oh, I hope I bag a Banksy." f**k THAT. At this point its a bunch of bulls**t false hope when you have a lottery system in which 10s of thousands of people sign up for 375 prints. And most of them could give a s**t about your art! DON'T think for a second its about your art. It stopped being about your art a long time ago. You're at the point in your career that you can screen print an image of a s**t on paper, sign it Banksy, and watch it sell for ยฃ1000 on ebay so long as its signed. Yet, rather than do what any artist who gave a s**t about his fans would do, and that's release more prints so that prices would be obtainable, you release 375 prints in the course of one year!?!?!? f**k YOU BANKSY, ITS CLEARLY BECOME ALL ABOUT INCREASING YOUR PRICES AND NOT YOUR FANS. And then you make a 100s of people line up in the freezing cold like rats begging for the chance to get your precious new work that you thought you would release in colourways of 25 for a total of 175 prints. f**k YOU for treating people like that. And POW, Dora, Simon, don't tell me you're all so f**king stupid that you don't realize that when Banksy prints are going for prices in the secondary market that are more than some people make away with in bank robberies at a time when the economy is historically bad and people are desperate, that you didn't think violence would happen. That you didn't think thugs would push there way to the front of a queue. YOU SHOULD BE HAPPY NO ONE DIED. Are you f**king kidding me? Most muggers don't get 1/50th of that amount you can net from selling a print on Ebay from an actual assault. And you don't expect s**t to go down??? But violence aside... You literally allowed people to line up all night in the cold again?? Did you think its cute that people want your work so much that they will risk their health to get it? f**k YOU. Seriously, all your fans should turn their back on you Banksy, because this is contempt for your fan base. And I don't want to sit here and quibble about the most equitable way to do a print release. YOU DON'T SAY f**k YOU TO YOUR FANS LIKE WHAT I READ HAPPENED HERE. But how this release was conducted isn't even the heart of the issue. 375 is the heart of the issue!!! That number is a big f**k YOU to everyone who hopes to own your work!!! And what the heart of the issue now is for me is that this proves you to be an inferior Urban Artist to Shepard Fairey. An Urban Artist is by definition about making his work accessible to common people. Now you're just some bulls**t gallery artist. YOU'RE A f**kING SELLOUT BANKSY. Shepard Fairey at least makes sure his fans have a chance to actually acquire signed pieces of his art. He releases often enough that a college kid can have a print on his wall. My first S/N piece was a Fairey that I bought at a reasonable price because I liked the image. Fairey prints are priced largely according to want for a particular image, unlike your works. Trolley's sucks ass and its still ยฃ2000 on ebay. People buy and hang the Shepard Fairey prints they like on their wall. People hang the Banksy prints they can afford on their wall. There is a big difference. Banksy, you're not a street artist anymore, you're just a f**kING ultra luxury brand like Louis Vuitton. A status symbol. YOU JUST IDLY WANTED TO SEE JUST HOW HIGH YOUR PRICES WOULD GET and then take no responsibility when fights break out as a result of it. POW, Dora, Simon, Banksy, this print release was the art equivalent of "Let Them Eat Cake." It was from the very beginning. f**k YOU and I hope more members of the forum revolt against your new attitude and the way you've treated your fanbase. EVERYONE ON THIS FORUM SHOULD GO BUFF A BANKSY TO SAY f**k YOU TO HIM FOR THE DISREGARD HE SHOWS TO HIS FANS.
I know which one in LA I'm thinking of hitting.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by grafik on Dec 11, 2010 17:23:22 GMT 1, the problem is there would have been zero problems if they had run it like last year.
If they were unprepared as were looking at a different night to release they should have said that to the first people who started Qing at berwick, tell them its not tonight go home.
If they were looking at a different method altogether, as i suspect, with berwick releases every day or something then they bottled it when they saw the crowd?
im still confused as to how many prints.
175 from POW, (the low edition ones were held back too) 60 from Berwick 100 Grey lottery 25x3 colour in the lottery.
= 410?

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by bigtlt on Dec 11, 2010 17:24:21 GMT 1, Don't know if this has been mentioned, but surely the obvious way to have handled the off-line sale would have been to sell raffle tickets at the M&S show VLH style. This would have raised loads more for charity and cut out the problem of thugs getting hold of them through intimidation.
How about selling scratchcards online for ยฃ5 each, a maximum of 5 per address and sell around 40,000 of these scratchcards making Banksy/POW/Charity around ยฃ200,000.
Think with the 375 available prints this time at ยฃ475 each they would have made ยฃ178,125 so more profits for them and cuts out the multiple email accounts. Would be more difficult for flippers to find multiple addresses for the cards to be sent to.
Still not without flaws but getting somewhere

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by Daniel Silk on Dec 11, 2010 17:25:11 GMT 1, Surely, as soon as it was announced it was gonna be at POW, people should have been on hand to organize the line overnight, and give out the numbers long before it went out of control? Even if the security could not be on hand that fast, surely it would only take a couple of people on a bit of overtime to handle things overnight

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by butteronehalfcab on Dec 11, 2010 17:29:00 GMT 1, Out if interest I have been reading most of these pages, as painful as that has been recently. The Berwick M&S releases today were they the same 8 colours that came out at POW or different. I know one guy posted here that the berwick peeps hadn't got theirs and were told to come and pick up later i just wondered.
good luck to everyone in the lottery tomorrow. hopefully some of us will come up happy. after failing to win 35 million last night i can't help but think it's my turn.
GOOD LUCK

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by snausages on Dec 11, 2010 17:33:59 GMT 1, to be fair i spoke to Simon and he wasn't at all happy, he said it was f**ked and POW had f**ked up, And that he couldn't do this again, he seemed truly upset that it had come to this. There will never be a shop release again after this. Pretty much a given.
You may well be right. In fact I think this may be the last release ever. I can't imagine Banksy is pleased by any of this at all. I'm sure he'd be quite content to just do streetwork instead of feeding the frenzy of both flippers and consumerists. If you want a Banksy print you have thousands already on the market to choose from.
It's just a print people. And it's very far from Banksy's best print. Despite that, I'm sure the lucky few will exploit the small amount of color ways for maximum profit.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by jackstranger on Dec 11, 2010 17:43:25 GMT 1, Everybody is complaining about POW, the in store release and the problems during the night.
But... if POW sent an email this right moment saying that there would be a new in store release tomorrow morning, how many people would be running immediately to there, even knowing the problems of last night?

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by rsj on Dec 11, 2010 17:46:02 GMT 1, Tickets should have been issued much earlier, I think we all agree on that. But also ...
POW staff should have been responsible for giving out the tickets. If they did, they would have possibly rejected some of the obvious flippers. Couples and family group might have been given one ticket per group. As someone else mentioned, some families got several prints.
That would have been fairer.
I'm very surprised they sold some unannounced ones at Berwick Street, but congratulations for those who got one there after queueing all night. Why didn't they just give out 60 extra tickets at POW?

You are a reasonable person;) I wouldn't too, I wouldn't even bother the first time as this unfortunate situation was predictable due to the speculation of the last days.
But I am pretty sure the queue would take minutes to get the same size as last night.
edit: It would be worst this night as people knows now howmuch others are willing to pay for the print

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by Con Art Studio on Dec 11, 2010 17:52:07 GMT 1, SIMPLE SOLUTION to selling prints in person:
People all queue up BUT it doesn't matter what time you show up because at a specific time everyone online will be handed a raffle ticket with a number on it. Once everyone has their raffle ticket a number will be drawn and whatever number is drawn is the number the line starts at. It doesn't matter if you are first or last to get there.
This not ony prevents line jumpers but also prevents people from standing online for 12+ hours in the cold.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by stradled on Dec 11, 2010 17:52:47 GMT 1, Upset for everyone who missed out after queuing properly. Real shame.
People who are saying that the release was rushed and only happened because a queue started, I dont believe that for a minute.
Some people obviously got tipped off which is why they turned up, the POW homepage info was obviously scheduled to be listed at 10pm as it happened on the button of 10.
Just seems like the ticket allocating should have been a lot better and maybe even fences used to stop a mad rush or stop people jumping in.

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by boaty on Dec 11, 2010 17:53:18 GMT 1, I'm very surprised they sold some unannounced ones at Berwick Street, but congratulations for those who got one there after queueing all night. Why didn't they just give out 60 extra tickets at POW?
crowd dispersion is a possibility.....smart, really....

Banksy โข Choose Your Weapon Print, by Agent Provocateur on Dec 11, 2010 17:53:24 GMT 1, the reason many peoplw love Banksy is his ability to convey a message through an image. With all the talent on here meby its time someone made an image to convey the depth of disgust we all share as to the way people were treated last night.
Not sure if I've got the right mixture of queueing, violence and capitalism...
