Has anyone got UV films on their windows???, by yapsey on Jan 21, 2011 19:15:03 GMT 1, Hello one and all,
Bit of advise needed if you would be so kind.....
My flat is on the top floor of a westerly facing block, so as lucky as I am getting the glory of the sunshine all day, the primary wall on which I hang a lot of my pieces Is often in direct sunlight which causes me to often close the blinds, or quickly whip a pieces off the wall until the path of the sun has passed. Almost all my pieces have non reflective UV glass so would be ok, however I still don't think I can be good for them being in direct sunlight......
After a bit of pondering I thought perhaps that a film had been made to put on the windows to reduce uv further. It seems this does exist, and i was wondering if anyone on here has used it or has any opinion as to it's if it's worth getting etc??
These guys here a one of few companies providing the service:

my point is that in every form of light source there are UV rays (there are also infrared but that isn't relevant here) so the key is to buy the best glass possible when framing your art. if you are indoors viewing the artwork during the day rest assured the glass is doing it's job, if you are out then keep blinds/curtains etc closed and you are doubly safe.
you can be too careful sometimes - you've paid for it, enjoy it!
