I think if Banksy really wanted these posters to still be selling for ยฃ5 he would have made it a unlimited edition and he would still be selling them now via his website. By creating limited editions and not selling anymore official posters, stickers, postcards, he has created a bubble in the values. |

Sooo many fakes of these on the market, I'd imagine most are faked and some are making alot of money from them. I've bought a few as decorative pieces in the past, all sellers said they were "legit" but each one was on totally different paper,and even varied in size slightly  - if people want to pay 1k that's there choice but seems utter madness to me (anyone who will do so, let me get the printer on and warmed up for you) haha

it's a tricky one! I'm glad I picked up a few records / bits and pieces when they were relatively cheap

There are also a lot if genuine ones out there.
I guess the key is buying from a trusted seller. Not eBay.

I have sold my signed Stik Poster ( only 19!) for 600 quids here with profs of the authenticity as I wrote comments the same day on Don't Panic page. And other proofs anyway..
The Stik Poster - for a Poster - had a very good printing and quality paper ..
I am sorry to tell , even if I like it, that the Banksy Tesc value was printed ...in a Tesco paper 
Maybe Banksy would that ?! Five pounds, not more.
Then buyers, sellers and flippers made the price going high !
The only art that I regret to gave sell is the legend Clown skateboard sticker... this one was really a raritie. You can blame me now , I am an junkie ( hi ! ) and racing addict .... wines too ...

Personally I suspect that Banksy had no intention to cause any such bubble regarding the tesco posters. These were produced for a specific event. They are limited in number only because that's the amount that were made to support that particular event. On the other hand, the tesco soup can litho that was for sale on pow for ยฃ10'was sold for a number of years at that price. Hardly the actions of someone trying to create a bubble.

The Soupcan posters are the same in that they had printed a set number, and they sold out when they ran out of stock. As you say, that had taken a long time as the demand for Banksy work was low at the time. Both posters could still easily be for sale on the Banksy or POW website for ยฃ5 or ยฃ10 meaning they would never increase in value. |

I sold my Banksy prints years ago (foolishly in hindsight) but I still have the POW emails from the purchases.
Free to anyone that wants to print off and frame.
