I think he's done a sound job to get Mantis onboard and this image into production. It was only a few weeks ago that images of this street piece hit the forums where it was universally praised and rightly so. Now within that short space of time it will be seen hanging on people's walls.

It's interesting to see the stir that Frankie's forthcoming release of this Mantis print has caused - the debate is raging on both forums. I won't deny that there's a definite element of poacher turned game-keeper. Though, for me it comes down to this - Mantis has made the decision to release this print through CB. It's Mantis' artwork and I'm sure he's well aware of CB's pre-existing business. The fact that the artist has chosen to put his trust in CB surely says a lot about Frankie and what he's trying to achieve. I think this is a really positive new direction for CB's business and wish him all the best.
jjoshi44 has hit the nail on the head once again with this one: a "positive new direction" for Camp Barbara's business.
I have no real issues with Frankie's buying and reselling of art, though I fully understand that passions can get inflamed (especially by those who were unable to secure an item) if the reselling is seen to be done within a period of time (whatever that period may actually be) considered indecently short.
However, the future release of the Mantis print takes the business to a completely new level. It is no longer a case of selling on items purchased cheaper elsewhere. There is a far greater investment involved on Frankie's part here: nurturing and promoting an artist, as well as dealing with the complications of the actual print-making process.
Camp Barbara's initiative should truly be encouraged, and that is notwithstanding the fact that this particular Mantis print does not require any assistance in selling itself.

I think in fairness there was no intention to offload the prints in this fashion. As Frankie has stated, the word got out much quicker than was intended and the poor bloke got swamped with people pressing him for a promise (myself included  )

Usually I find myself too late getting on the forum (I don't have a job where I sit at a computer all day), or not being quick enough with the e-mail etc. This time, while everyone was busying themselves with the Amp and Beejoir releases I, along with a few others, stumbled across this leaked information and acted upon it. For once I think I've had a result.
I fully understand why people might be upset with this, as I've found myself questioning the fairness of releases in the past. I've given up complaining and have come to accept that it is just the luck of the draw. I got lucky this time- hopefully that'll make up for the numerous other occasions when I didn't And hopefully those who didn't get this release will get the next one they want etc.
I think fair play to Frankie for letting people do this. I know he was worried about the flippers, and I'm sure most of them have gone to those people who really wanted them this time (I hope)!

I've ALWAYS missed out on Bankys due to the office hours release times.
I too, have only recently got lucky with the SOS releases and a couple others.
Just hope this lucky streak continues with POW
