Came pastr the Leonard Street Gallery this morning and they told me that the print was not going to be released today!...........I'm a bit confused........"Should I go or should i stay?"

It must be today as it says this on TLSG website

"The gallery will be closed to the public from Wednesday 1st August until Friday 17th August although artwork viewings may be made by appointment. "

What is the fuss with Mantis?? All I see is Mantis=Poor Mans Banksy. All fall down is a BLATANT rip-off.

I think it's a poor image as a print, but on the street it was good.
Where did he rip it from?

I love the print, its fantastic in the flesh. I dont think he ripped it from anywhere. As far as Mantis being a poor mans Banksy, i think anyone who can spend £125 on a piece of art is not that poor. Does that make Banksy a rich mans Blek?

When I was standing in the queue at Found last week a few of us were talking about Mantis and in particular Evolution. Me and this guy could remember an image which was very similar, starting with a monkey then through the evolutionary steps to us today but then back down to monkey giving a sort of symmetrical look to it. Now we both thought it was originally a Banksy but couldn't remember where from, we had both seen it done as cheap "tributes" on ebay, similar to most Banksys but neither of us could swear it was the man himself. Whoever did do this though it could be argued that Mantis was influenced or inspired by it but as too rip off that implies copying ideas and images which I don't think can be applied to any of the images so far.

In that case that makes Blek... nothing but a Neanderthal fraudster. ;D

I agree insite, Evolution is a play on a well known image, but merson said "All Fall Down is a BLATANT rip-off".

Personally I think Evolution is a fantastic piece, the simplicity of it is part of it's charm.

The Mantis version is so much more clever, and subtle than any I've found, and has a different meaning.

I know, I nearly posted what do you want Mantis to do set off an A-Bomb just too get an original photograph but thought I'd try to join in the debate. ;D
