A massive thanks to Black Rat for hosting that, the artists and assistants.
It was great meeting War Boutique an absolutely top bloke.
Here are my purchases from the evening.
At ยฃ20 for a screen printed target on canvas (on board). The paint balls were hand filled by WB with acrylics. Great fun contributing to the work. They put body armour and helmet on you, so you could get a sense of what it is like to wear that for real.

Last day tomorrow, so get down there while it is still on, other than the free beer, it should still be worth a visit, and I am sure there are a few more target works available.

I was thinking only of the distinction between gaming war and real war, and the risk of bluring of the two.
You may be right - the handle may mean more. Interested to know.

Probably by a spotty 16 year old that has spent the last 10 years playing Call of Duty.

I asked him tyo sign them for me on the night. But you are right that will be the exception, unless you ask.
On the night I purchased the target I shot, but someone then ended up walking off with it. After that they wrote my name onto the back of the replacement.
Speaking to WB, it sounds like he is normally uncomfortable attending shows, but with the Black Rat staff, was a lot happier. Such a nice guy though. It was singularly one of the best evenings out that I have had in a long time. That and the drinks after with Static et al. , I drank far too much and only got home at 2am.
Believe it or not, the wife has given the nod for them to go on the wall, so will take them along to my framer today.

There will be more stuff in future if this is something they feel speaks to people.
I'm editing a little video of the night. It will mostly be of War Boutique's stuff as I think I've inflicted far too much of Peter Kennard on you in the past!
However, he will be signing more books at Rough Trade [Brick Lane] on the 12th and there are a few events at Raven Row [56 Artillery Lane, London - off Spitalfields Market]. It's Ken Livingstone this week and a political comedian the next week [not that one, but the funny one]. And he'll be popping in and out of various shows if you wanna catch him.
As for War Boutique....it's great everyone is so receptive to his work because it's very difficult for overtly political artists to make a living creating and engaging. He's a man with a voice and I certainly never get bored hearing it.
He's also are really charitable fellow. He's helping friend fundraise for her film by donating some work to auction.
