I just couldn't imagine him doing this sort of thing a few years back, so what has changed?

Banksy has always been a master of self-publicity, I don't see any real change to be honest.

At the end of the day he is a serious artist and wants publicity and recognition as much as others, It just so happens his canvas is predomantly street based and his themes touch on the current state of society, i dont actually see him as anti establishment more expressing his views on society, which i believe most people see and agree with ,

could just be satisfying/including his fan base in a significant milestone in his street art career...
I'm quite pleased he's putting these up...would have been very disappointed if he didn't!...many fans were expecting and wanting him to do these...and he is exceeding all expectations with some quality stuff, imo...

The only bad thing i can see is that it will become even more impossible than it already is to get a banksy from source.
But for me its a good thing. I hope he wins and i hope he gets up on stage unmasked and tells em how it is!

I like to think he is just out there doing some pieces for fun while he is in town. The awards show will indeed be interesting though is he actually wins...

there are also similarities to the old wrong war t-shirt...
i wonder if banksy had this image from back then?
the stencil on the t-shirt looks much looser, and the bleach used is no doubt harder to get a sharp edge compared to spraypaint but it's got similarities
