Banksy Street Art in Los Angeles, by tonysantos2001 on Feb 17, 2011 21:09:53 GMT 1, Ok the billboard piece was NOT done in any studio, it was done on site as it were! most modern billboard signs are actually on that wierd canvas/plastic type shit! This is A, for ease of putting up and B, so that they can move posters around to different sites. most modern billboards are like this. If you think it was done in a studio someplace else then whatever! Maybe Ron English helped him out, after all he has a past reputation with billboard subversion!

Banksy Street Art in Los Angeles, by BK83 on Feb 18, 2011 1:06:12 GMT 1, My point is he never 'took' the spot old skool style, someone paid for it to be there. I bet if anyone can find an image of that billboard a day before the piece went up, you will see the artwork was hung at the same time as the banner.... meaning it was painted in a cosy studio somewhere else I've posted a photo of the billboard a day before it was hit. See above.
I don't think that proves anything! The company probably had two printed and changed them out overnight with the Banksy one.
I work for Calvin Klein, Inc. We did a similiar company sanctioned billboard takeover a couple years ago in conjunction with the New Museum around the time that "the splasher" was gaining notoriety in New York. We created/printed 3 versions of one our large billboard images posted them over the course of three days.
follow the link to see gothamist.com/2007/11/28/splashing_is_th.php
So believe me, if a company can afford to buy ad space like that in LA, they printed more than one billboard wrap, and Banksy was involved from the get go.
Welcome to the world of art and big business. Don't be so naive!

Banksy Street Art in Los Angeles, by naughtyshorty on Feb 18, 2011 4:30:01 GMT 1, ok banksy may realise that there is a commercial side to what he does, but i dont think he'd go as far as getting into bed with some corporate just to do a staged billboard ad. i mean come on, lets be serious here...

Also, if anyone is visiting LA for this reason, also PM me.

$455 already... but as I said before I doubt that he's selling the banksy piece... it looks like a smart auction.
Original/Reproduction: Reproduction Medium: Oil
This is for a chunk of concrete with a stenciled art piece on it.
Professionally crated.
no reference to banksy other than the picture....

They own the building, were gonna paint it out until they found out how much it was potentially worth.
