The street piece of this is a stencil work, right?
The print is a screen print. Why does it have a grid pattern?
I'm really not very good at printing / painting techniques, so any insight into the process of getting this print done, would be appreciated

Dolk - "Prison Painter" Print, by murdock on Mar 1, 2011 22:53:04 GMT 1, I tried a new framer (new for me) in Berlin and gave him 4 pieces. He actually never did double matts before (despite working for tons of galleries and artists!?!), so he "struggled" a bit with that. But all's well that ends well, I guess.
The frame was hand made, no museum glass, and cost me €175.
Pretty happy with it now

Sorry Murdock didnt quite understand your grid description. I guess your meaning the screen production itself? The image will be seperated and a transparency made then the screen/image is exposed to UV leaving what area you want to ink through. You can alway spray/paint a bit on by hand.

Man kann auch Glück haben, aber grundsätzlich versuchen die wohl so wenig wie möglich zu empfehlen, damit man hinterher nicht sagen kann, die hätten einem was aufgeschwatzt...
Dabei finde ich es gerade beim Rahmen wichtig, eine professionelle Meinung und Tipps zu bekommen.
Bringt die Boesner-Kundenkarte eigentlich generell Vergünstigungen/Rabatte?
Der Rahmenmacher, bei dem ich jetzt bin, hat auch sehr faire Preise und gibt Nachlass bei Gruppenaufträgen.

Ok, so I read up on it a bit, and I guess I misunderstood the making of the screens as a bit more of a mechanical/handmade thing. Basically,you can print anything on the screen, in this case a doted pattern used in newsprint pictures for example. This will then be printed onto the paper, in this case with black paint, making it look like a blown up version of the original, I guess.
Would be interesting to know, how Dolk designs his pieces and then the screens. By hand? Photoshop?
