Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by me on Apr 27, 2014 18:37:12 GMT 1, If you buy anything from Hang up make sure you pay when you agree on the price, DO NOT RESERVE and pay later.
i agreed on a price for a print, then reserved it to pay later as I was in a shop doing my shopping. I rang up an hour later to pay and was informed the price had now gone up by a lot and told if I had paid straight away instead of reserving the print I could have had it for the agreed price. If I knew this could have happened at the time I would have paid straight away.
I don't blame hang up Gallery. The seller must have been informed and decided to put the price up after the deal had been made and the print reserved.
I refuse to buy anything from hang up gallery now as I think it was unfair for them to allow the seller to continue to advertise his print on their site for a higher price than I had originally reserved it for.
if I agree to sell something to someone or purchase something from someone for an agreed price I will not back out of the deal, even if I get offered a better price.
If I owned a gallery and someone messed my customers around like that I wouldn't allow them to carry on advertising the same product on my website for a higher price.
It's bad business.
on the other hand I have heard a lot of good things about Hang up Gallery. I just Refuse to use them anymore.

If they took your deposit then I'd say you had a contract with the seller, even if the deposit was accepted by his/her agent.
Did you at least threaten legal action?

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by me on Apr 28, 2014 22:13:38 GMT 1, I didn't pay a deposit. I had the money to pay for the print I just didn't want to stand in the middle of the shop reading out my bank card details. That's why I asked if I could pay when I got home in full. To which they told me that was fine they would reserve the print for me to pay in full when I got home. When I rang up an hour later to pay in full they told me that the seller increased the price.
I didn't need to pay a deposit as I had the money to pay in full, it was just not a convenient time to pay. I agreed a price which was about £50 less than advertised and the print was supposed to be reserved.
The seller obviously told the gallery how much he wanted, the gallery would then added their commission to the price and I reserved it at a price agreed by hang up on behalf of the seller and themselves.
My issue is that If they told me the seller had changed his mind and wanted more money I would not have minded so much. I think the fact they carried on letting the seller sell his print on the sight for a higher price after I agreed a price and reserved the print rubbed salt in the wound.

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by Poster Bob on Apr 28, 2014 23:41:21 GMT 1, It sounds like they had a few calls or emails after you reserved it decided that they had made a pricing error and knew that they could get more for the print. Galleries 101 teaches that you should pay in full immediately, every time. I've had this happen a few times. I have called and asked if something new to the market is still available and they always respond with what I assume is some bullshit "we have had several calls about this" or "we have had a lot of interest in this piece, when can you pay?" If you say in full, now, they are always happy to take your money then and there.

That said, you could at least point that out and threaten legal action.
It's simply bad ethic.

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by urbanflik on Aug 21, 2014 9:51:36 GMT 1, I have a mint Rude Copper, unsigned with COA.
Framed with UV and sourced from another forum member.
My young son is starting to question daddy's art, and the mrs isn't happy with the image, so looking to swap for another Banksy.
Ideally looking for NBG, but will consider other trades.
This is not for cash sale, trades only please.
Based in Essex, but can travel reasonably.
