Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by Viking Surfer on Jan 22, 2017 21:38:44 GMT 1, barsukauk and thugs , I'm not talking about the literal dimensions of the Rude Copper. I'm talking about the size listed on the COA.
PC said they only ever list the generic 60 x 40 on the COA (even though the original POW site had it listed as 57 x 40).
I appreciate all are a little different due to the mismatch of paper used, I'm just interested as to what's written on your actual COA.
Thanks 😊

Had a few PMs and all said the same, with their cert having a generic 60 x 40 and their RC being a different size.
I was just making sure PC weren't being lazy when they issued the COA for mine, but it appears it was the same across the board, especially for an edition like this when all were a different size.
I also spoke to Laz about borders around the RC and he said many were done right up to the edge, leaving no border and a few had borders all around; there was no system to how they were sprayed on to the paper.
Super stoked with my RC

Yeah I knew someone was going to call me out on that, I'm just on my phone and couldn't be bothered to edit.
Screen print is obviously what I meant.

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by cheesy on Oct 23, 2017 16:23:10 GMT 1, hi
ive been on the hunt for signed banksy pieces, adn have come across the above by a dealer. Hes trying to tell me signatures are not as relevant with either originals or handfinished as the artist actually painted the work. He says it still does carry a premium, but not to the same extent that a signature would.
again, im an amateur to this, and was hoping for any direction on the matter.
thanks for your time.

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by silvermyn on Oct 23, 2017 17:47:02 GMT 1, Hi cheesy,
I was considering an RC with red spraypaint background but no signature a few years ago. Perhaps it's the same one you're looking at?
Unsigned but with unique handsprayed finish (assuming it states as much on the COA) is an interesting proposition. I was told that such works were not considered good enough by the artist to be signed but that might be BS. I think Banksy did some unsigned RR's and they looked fine to the untrained eye but then there may be something in it.
Personally, signed is where it's at for me. I feel confident that the artist was happy with the final work and it adds a great deal to prints having that signature at the bottom.
If you like it and can get a good price, buy it and enjoy. As long as it has a COA you're on safe ground. They are rare and there will always be a buyer should you wish to move on.
Silver.

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by craigf on Oct 24, 2017 21:08:43 GMT 1, hi
ive been on the hunt for signed banksy pieces, adn have come across the above by a dealer. Hes trying to tell me signatures are not as relevant with either originals or handfinished as the artist actually painted the work. He says it still does carry a premium, but not to the same extent that a signature would.
again, im an amateur to this, and was hoping for any direction on the matter.
thanks for your time. When it comes to originals, particularly the editions (let's not get into the debate whether an original has to be a 1 of 1) most of the ones by Banksy are not signed. There are exceptions of course which are signed and often on the originals the Banksy TAG on the side is claimed to be a signature

There are exceptions of course which are signed and often on the originals the Banksy TAG on the side is claimed to be a signature I would also draw a distinction between an original (which the artist has done by hand, albeit using a stencil) and a screen print that was created by a print house but later varied by the artist.
The original, as certified by PC, shows that the artist prepared the entirety of the piece. It doesn't need a signature to show that the artist executed the work. Nice but not important with PC certified originals. With a screen print, the print is not generally screened by Banksy himself and the only thing the artist can do to make it unique is a signature and/or some handfinishing.
There are signed prints and then there are handfinished signed prints. For example, there are some white edition CYWs and there are also some white edition CYWs that have red dots added to them. The versions with the red dots are viewed as more desirable as the artist made each print even more unique. What is interesting is that there are some prints that the artist has made unique but has not signed.
Some would argue that the prints can be ranked in the following order 1. signed handfinished; 2 signed; 3 unsigned handfinished; and 4 unsigned. There could be a lot of debate around whether a signed print is worth more that an unsigned handfinished print but I think generally collectors do prefer the signed prints.
