Am no expert - by any means, but was just looking at the FAQ section on POW - and it says Banksy signs "most of his in pen"??
Cant be right though as the majority I have seen are pencil??

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by adrscib on Jan 14, 2007 19:12:20 GMT 1, i don t know why you should sell it now!!! i shouldnt tell you... but in 7-february there are 7 banksy auction @ sothebys olympia ;D and i believe if auction is successful prices are to increase from current levels good luck. so whoever is buying now will make a good profit in just 1 month. just my opinion, i might be wrong.

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by metadaptive on Jan 14, 2007 19:48:33 GMT 1, thanks for the tip adrscib!
might have to pull it though I'd prefer not to - interest has been pretty crazy already in like half an hour.
in the end its a print i bought for £40 quid as a skint student so any advance on that is a bonus really...
...can't help thinking how high they *might* go tho...

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by adrscib on Jan 14, 2007 20:00:47 GMT 1, My bet is that you should be able to get north of 2k... because similar prints that were going at 1.8k in november are now going for 2.5-2.75k... e.g. the grin reaper...
and also since that it is very rare that a rude copper comes on ebay i wouldnt be surprised that it hits 3k.
On the business side... i hope you take this advice...
Well if i were you, check with some art dealers who might own the print... like www.guyhepner.com/content/content.php?id=622 see what is their asking price and make sure you get at least 80% of their asking price.
If you dont get that price then u should stop the auction before - or make a reserve...
i know it might be very tempting to sell (since it costs you nothing) but you will regret it in 1 years time... if prices keep increasing!!!! so make sure you get the best price you can.
Otherwise you will be selling at a discount, and the buyer will make a better deal than you.

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by metadaptive on Jan 14, 2007 20:12:18 GMT 1, guy hepner is asking 6k for the one he has! and that was in november.
thanks very much for your advice - i appreciate it muchly - as and when I do sell I will buy you a beer sometime...
i really am in two minds over it all - my financial situation is less than good at the mo... but finally improving on its own...
mind me asking your opinion on a couple of other things
do you think it's worth holding off and getting the print authenticated the next time banksys people do a round of auth'ing (as my in-the-know mate tells me they do every so often) apparently it doesn't cost that much..?
could it be worth selling to a dealer? if so gow does one approach them.?
thanks again for your time...

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by Zippy on Jan 14, 2007 21:58:14 GMT 1, hi meta, some of the advice given above is good - some not so good. if you need to sell it for financial gain and to clear some debts - do it. ignore the 'what ifs' merchants! there is no point wondering what will happen in the future. whatever price you get then becomes current market value. the dealers selling for lots more will always take an offer. also this is their business, they mark it up high but never sell at that price. you should get 2k for it imo. i would love to have it but dont have any money. if you would swap it them pm me!!

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by adrscib on Jan 14, 2007 23:20:36 GMT 1, hi meta i am not sure if i can help you on your further questions as i am a novice and dont want to give you incorrect answers... what i am sure tho is that the dealer always has a higher price.... but i mean you can bargain... from my experience... i bought a grin reaper at half the price that was being asked ... and it was for the same edition number! but luckily i manged to find the owner of the print rather than guy hepner...so it is true that their prices are extremely inflated.... but as time goes on this gap is being reduced... grin repers were going for 1.7k whilst guy hepner was selling for 3.4k, now they are going for 2.7k on ebay and guy heper asks for 3.8k...
my other reasoning is... if dealers are marking up their prices and eventually sell... maybe if not 6k they can afford to sell at 5k... but why should you settle for 2k??? unless you are desperately in need of cash i would not sell for less than 3-4k... after all the art galleries are experts and know the feel of the market... it is only a question of finding the right buyer at the right price.. what i also noticed on ebay is that there are also print businesses who are buying .. which to my knowledge means they are speculating.... and expecting prices to go up...
finally i will stop commenting on the financial aspects as i am sure foundation won't like that i discuss business on the forum. Sorry! Good luck in your sale.
Adrian

Say what you like adrian, I myself have no problems discussing finacial stuff, and was reprimanded quite vocally several times in the past for doing such things, being reminded that this forum was about the art of banksy, things have changed and I'm not arsed as its another interesting part of the banksy phenomenon. It is quite interesting the ammount of quality people both the ebay forum and here have lost mainly due to newer interested parties talking rubbish, giving bad advice and generally clogging discussions with pointless tripe, leaving everyone else to wade through ankle deep poo to find anything interesting. Anyone heard from GM recently? voice of authority? Thugs? Moffla? Ahh goodbye respect points

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by BME on Jan 15, 2007 10:36:20 GMT 1, Hi meta,
If you have debts I think this is a good time to sell. Prices are high, people are confident- and there's a limit to the amount that anyone can ask for an unsigned print! I suspect that the difference in value between signed and unsigned prints will continue to grow.
Because of the scarcity of the image (and its desirability) I'd argue that rude copper will always be one of the most valuable unsigned prints, along with Bomb Middle England, Love is in the Air, Girl With Balloon and the Soup Cans (heavily undervalued IMO). I think that anything over £2200 would be a good result- and a damn fine return on your £40!
good luck

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by numusic on Aug 31, 2007 15:02:27 GMT 1, last ones went for around 2k, but that was this time last year. You could probably at least double that these days. But it's been a while since one was up for sale. I'd ebay it and see what market price comes in. It should generate a lot of interest and a good price. Many people trying to complete collections so a lot of people would up their normal maximum on this.

Banksy • Rude Copper Print • 2003, by dgb133 on Aug 31, 2007 19:37:11 GMT 1, Last unsigned Rude Copper went for 4k GBP on the bay about 2-3 months ago. It was a buy it now auction and it was up for several days before someone took the bait.
I guess that's 'ok' for the 'copper' but personally I don't see any unsigned prints escalating in value for much more than that. At least not for awhile. Prices seemed to have hit a ceiling in my opinion. Of course you guys can prove me wrong.
