Banksy • Napalm Print, by jswo on Jul 14, 2011 22:09:01 GMT 1, Hi, I was looking at purchasing a signed banksy 'napalm' print, i have been told the number is a low number out of 500. As far as Im aware the signed run was numbered 1-150/150 and another unsigned run of 500. The seller believes they were told the first 150 out of the 500 unsigned lot was actually signed, do you think this is correct? If so do you think the the signed 150/500 would be worth as much as the original 150 signed ones?
Thanks for any help.

That is correct; Banksy signed c.150 of the 'unsigned' version. As for whether the former are worth as much as the latter, it is my opinion that you should expect to pay a premium for the 'signed' version given the smaller edition size. PM me if you have any further questions...

Banksy • Napalm Print, by Prescription Art on Jul 14, 2011 23:10:37 GMT 1, That is not correct. There is an edition of 150 signed prints and an edition of 500 unsigned prints.
The print you have been offered has either a cock up on the numbering (which is possible for older prints but i've never come across one from 2005 onwards with wrong numbering) or a forged signature. If you could post up some photos we can be the judge of which that is - though only Pest Control could give you a definitive answer.
Incidentally if you are looking for a reasonably priced and genuine signed Napalm I have one available...

Banksy • Napalm Print, by hlarmy on Jul 14, 2011 23:40:32 GMT 1, James, I'm afraid you are wrong on this one.
What I do find interesting is that this print is dated 2004; the signed version is dated 2005....

Banksy • Napalm Print, by Prescription Art on Jul 15, 2011 0:03:41 GMT 1, If there is a separate signed run (and another run of signed APs), why would he sign 150 of the unsigned run as well? Well I wasn't there when they were signed or sold so who am I to say, but i'd find that very surprising. Does it have a COA?

Banksy • Napalm Print, by jswo on Jul 15, 2011 15:44:39 GMT 1, yes, they have a coa. but couldn't a coa be easily faked, maybe not by the person selling but before them? if it is legit i would be interested as to what people thought the value may be as a signed print from the original 150 must be worth more than a signed print from the run of 500? Am I right to assume if i tell pow/pest control the owners name and the print number and they thats who owns the print then it must be a legit copy? thanks

Banksy • Napalm Print, by fingerz on Jul 15, 2011 15:49:15 GMT 1, Banksy’s Napalm print (sometimes known as Can’t Beat That Feeling) was originally released in 2004. A total edition of 650 prints, 150 were signed and the remaining 500 were unsigned. There were a further few different Artist Proof colourways released. • 150 – Signed • 500 – Unsigned 50×70cm
mage from circa 2005, by which time the signed prints had sold out but unsigned remained.

Banksy • Napalm Print, by johnnyh on Jul 15, 2011 17:07:18 GMT 1, Interesting I just checked the COA it does actually date the print as 2004. So I assume he was not as popular then and some were signed as sold hence 2004 and 2005 signatures. Interesting!!!
So the 2004 date is fine.
Johnny

Banksy • Napalm Print, by xmyart on Jul 15, 2011 20:41:54 GMT 1, I think it means its confirmed as real but the seller is to tight to cough up the £60 for the COA. Not 100% about that though.

Banksy • Napalm Print, by jmcy9999 on Sept 29, 2011 10:53:45 GMT 1, I bought some artwork back in the early days and I am completely out of touch with the market. I've had a quick look round at prices and want to know if these prices are realistic - last time I looked at ebay (a few years ago) I'm sure the micallef 21st century love was selling on ebay for +8k...lolol?
Anyway - here are the prices - am I way out?
Banksy Napalm edition of 150 2005 (Signed) COA, original owner purchased direct from POW £4.25k - conservation framing, museum glass, white box frame
Micallef 21st Century Love signed print - COA, original owner purchased direct from Eyestorm £3k - conservation framing, museum glass, white box frame, double mount
Blek Le Rat Beggar Canvas Edition of 10 (the real edition not the homeless magazine edition) - COA, original owner, purchased from Mike (who i think now is the owner of Black Rat Press) - £4.25k
