Well I have now completed 4 marathons, I did two in one week, and my next challnege is my 44 mile ultra marathon over the mountains of the Brecon Beacons on May 30th! This should be a superb and exciting challenge and i can't wait!

A dark, rainy night in Future Tokyo. Clattering noises from a narrow, neon filled alley way, a giant metallic Samurai edging down the alley way, trapped and entangled in cables and wires, tearing down neon signs that fizz and crackle in the rain filled air. Waking a women from her sleep, she nervously pulls the curtains open to see the giant, glistening monster moving past..

Dan Kitchener ๐บ๐ธ Street Artist โข Art Prints For Sale, by Dan Kitchener on May 9, 2015 9:53:11 GMT 1, 'The Dead Man's Arms' - Whilst everyone sleeps, I like to get up early everyday, sitting in my studio in the dark, silence all around, with just the lights if the computer monitors illuminating the room, I can immerse myself in these dark fantasy worlds of London Dark, ancient creatures, ghostly figures and eerie deserted streets inhabited only by the dead fill my sketchbooks and allow me to choose where I want to go to in this alternate reality. I am particularly happy with this illustration, the multiple light sources are a challenge that I relish, they allow a real sense of form and depth as well as tangible light and shadowโฆalways fascinated by light and these really allow me to explore the way light reacts with stone, bone and slimy flesh and tentacles! The added bioluminescence of the ancient god also adds another dimension to the light effects!

This was painted at the amazing new bar in Worthing, called 'The Libertine'. It's a rush hour in Tokyo, a rainy winter's evening, people carrying umbrellas, hunched over, trying to get home, cars gridlocked on rain soaked streets, steam, water and light everywhere! It's a permanent wall, so should be there a good few years!
So here's my latest large scale wall commission. This was painted at the amazing new bar in Worthing, called 'The Libertine'. It's a rush hour in Tokyo, a rainy winter's evening, people carrying umbrellas, hunched over, trying to get home, cars gridlocked on rain soaked streets, steam, water and light everywhere! 12 Marathons challenge! So alongside my street work, shows and events, canvas paintings and illustrations I am currently in the midst of my year long running marathons challenge, where i am taking on 12 marathons / ultra marathons in order to raise money and awareness for a very special and small charity that works hands on, with rescued orangutans with International Animal Rescue in Kalimantan, Indonesia. OVAID ( Orangutan Veterinary Aid - Nigel and Sarah ) volunteer huge chunks of their year to travel to Indonesia and give Veterinary aid and medical care to the rescued Orangutans that have been left vulnerable from the constant and extensive deforestation. For small charities and organisations such as this, they desperately need funds, and the money has a tangible and real effect on the work they do, and not get swallowed up in a huge pot and not used directly to help. To highlight the idea of changing landscapes f the Orangutan i am running 12 marathons this year 1 every month and creating art based on the changing landscapes I see in my runs through the season,s hopefully culminating with a gallery show at the end of the year or early 2016 where i'll exhibit some of the paintings from the year!
I have completed 5 marathons so far, with my next tough trail / mountain Marathon on June 20th in Snowdonia, Wales!
I have a Virgin Money giving donation page which you can donate money to OVAID directly ( nb: this does NOT fund my marathon trips and costs etc ) So any donations would be very gratefully received!

Loved that shot of the Brecon Beaconsโฆ I did the Welsh 3000's a few years ago (walking, not running). I've done loads of marathons. Got down to 3:22 in Amsterdam (nice and flat then switched over to Ironman Triathlon where the marathon comes after a 2.5 mile swim and a 112 mile bike ride. Still managed sub 4 on those runs! Not run in a year or so and spending most of my time on the bike - off to South Wales this weekend for a 250km ride around the mountains.
Followed by beers!

I am Quite used to swimming though have done plenty 2hr / 5km swims in recent years, next year I will be focusing on ultra marathons, eventually want to do a 100 miler and maybe Comrades in SA, all good fun and gives me plenty of thinking time to get ideas for my art!

Painted over three days ( day 1 just to emulsion and fix the wall!!! ) it's one of my Liquid Lights, rainy Tokyo night scenes, quite aptly placed above an MOT center! The scaffold should be down next week, so i'll be able to post a full and finished shot. Here are some WIP shots and an obscured finished shot.
