Quality of Banksy prints, by adewilliams on Feb 23, 2011 11:08:37 GMT 1, Which Banksy prints do people consider to be the best in terms of quality print? Not the best or most iconic image (rats) but the finest print jobs.
Grin reaper is nicely printed on what looks like quality mottled paper but CDN soldiers and CWSB are pretty poor in terms of quality from what I have seen. Also some of the soup cans look a bit weird with show through on some colour ways. Considering everything has come form POW with the exception of the LA sets (as far as i know) the consistency seems to vary greatly. If that's a fair assessment.

Quality of Banksy prints, by Deleted on Feb 23, 2011 11:41:14 GMT 1, I really dislike the printing of Nola. something about her face close up, really bugs me, they could have made a better job of it for sure. Never seen a bomb hugger in the flesh, but it looks hideous on a pc.
I like the printing off CYW and Donuts.

Worst it's a toss up between cwsb and napalm.
The recent prints have definitely had a different feel to them, more in keeping with the original pieces. Whether you like them or not is a matter of taste.

The recent prints have much more fine detail than the early ones, and look far more sprayed, or painted (depending)... but I'm not sure that makes them "better".
The Grin Reaper print is probably the nicest I've seen in terms of quality... but I'd rather have a signed Happy Chopper, Laugh Now, Bomb Hugger or Rat!

Napalm is poor, but love the concept.

I would agree; the print quality is the only reason why I wouldn't break the bank to buy this print as I love the statement.
The print quality on Napalm has never worried me; it's not amazing but it's certainly good.

Way it looks to me, differrent styles only natural for the work to get better quality as his technique develops.? I cant see why printing techinques would have changed that much ?

I think it's safe to say he doesn't care.
In fact I doubt banksy ever even sees any of his old prints - i guess anyone who was with him in the beginning would have been given originals for their walls.
Also it's not as if they set out to make bad quality prints - it was just how they did things back then.
My guess would be that when he sees the old prints he has a little chuckle that people ever bought them.

It's still about the image for me.
Donuts is really detailed and loads of colours and to me stood out for printing but the image for me is nothing special.
I disagree with slammer on nola ( yes I have one ) but I never got the same feeling from a banksy print before like I did
With nola. It's very dark and her face although not detailed gives the print a sad feel, like the message is supposed to give overall, it is not a pretty picture but a print with depth and meaning.
Or perhaps I'm taking bullshit it made sense to me.
