Framing Advice, by wentos on Mar 8, 2011 17:12:35 GMT 1, Afternoon All,
I am just after some basic framing advice for some pieces that I have, I have only recently started collecting and now have to get some on the wall! I think I have read every topic on this page and have got some great advice, but just wanted to clarify a couple of points as some of the posts are quite old.
I think my main concern is if I frame a print and have it against the glass and have no mount, will it really damage the print and over what length of time?! I would use Nielsen or the like frames. Obviously more expensive pieces I will have framed professionally...but the £10 and £35 prints I am thinking of.
Also, can anyone recommend a good storage folder for prints, am I right in thinking its best to store the prints flat in a folder rather than keep them rolled up in tubes?
Thanks in advance and I'm sure I will think of some more shortly.
David

Framing Advice, by balibob on Mar 8, 2011 17:27:02 GMT 1, Its worth getting even your cheaper prints framed properly, otherwise they will look cr*p next to your professionally framed prints. You don't necessarily need any print edge mounted, a lot of prints look better float mounted, but again a professional framer will give you the best advice. Do ask how the framer fixes the print to the back mount though, a friend of mine has had his 9 Eelus prints ruined by a framer who used double sided tape to fix the print in place. Flat is much better than tubes, acid free folders a must.Good luck David
