That was kinda what I was hoping to hear caughtbythefuzz, thanks. I'll check that I got the right name and number. I definitely want that to check that out before purchasing. I think the owner of the print has a COA. I'll email again and failing that show up at the shop.

Just to distil all these threads:

Dora at PoW no longer authenticates any banksy's. She has a list of the registered names/numbers- she will check a name / number for you against the list. if you provide the name/numer and she confirms it matches that's not a Data Protection Act issue.

Pest Control is not part of PoW. It is part of Banksy's organisation. They now handle all authentication / CoA certificates, and they provide the up to date list of names/numbers to Dora. They will re-register a print in your name for free or charge £50 +delivery +VAT (rounded to £65) to isse a Pest Control certificate.
It takes 6-8 weeks (sometimes, 4, sometimes 10) to get a Pest Control certificate issued. Re registering is usually only a week or 2.

The Pest Control certificate request link is from the PoW site as that's where people go to first. It is identical to accessing thru PC website tho:

yes i did and am told that i should be receiving the COA this week.

i know people said they don't need a COA if they're keeping the print (and mine is framed up in the living room) but most insurance companies would require one if something happened to the print, which is why i got one.

Yes - received mid-February, requested the Saturday after a night on Commercial Street.

must say i have never had issues with anyone replying to me , i have been patient and always had a reply and they have always been really helpful.

sometimes it has taken a little while to reply but only due to the odd person being on holiday and to be honest i done blame them for not replying while winding down or busy .

i recently submitted over 15 coa requests in one night , i got a reply within seven days with a request for a little more info , i have had confirmation on half already and awaiting the others patiently ,

i hope they are tracking down the people i purchased off to authenticate their real .

does anyone know what they do if they cant get hold of the original owner ? just curious ?

Just let them do their thing and you'll get it in good time. I sent for one for my cyw 26th Jan and received it through the post on 23rd Feb

Thats a bit harsh I think the fact you sad she is new would edge towards her learning the job and making sure things are done correctly. I can imagine the uproar that would happen if a print was purchase for good money on secondry market with a COA that proved to be wrongly issued.

Getting this process right is vitally important. Imagine the uproar if a COA was issued for a fake.

It's not an easy process, particularly in terms of early prints where no records were kept, prints were bought for cash from Santa's Ghetto etc.

There are only a few people that can authenticate a print, and to expect them to do nothing else but wade through pictures/emails/info 24 hours a day is not possible.

If you've had a response to your initial COA submission then it's in hand. Calm down.
