Keith Haring Crack Is Wack Mural - Restoration, by oddkabob on Sept 13, 2007 18:06:15 GMT 1, Last Friday, Sept 7, driving home from work I noticed the old Crack Is Wack mural had some unusual coloring---some of it was it's usual faded and cracked orange while some of it was a bright orange. This week more and more of the new orange until finally the entire mural was completely repainted looking what I guess it looked like when it was first painted some 20 years ago. Af first I was disturbed seeing an artist's work restored by someone other than the artist, but I guess this means the mural will be around for another 20 years for more people to enjoy. Maybe in 20 years people will be refurbishing Banksys as well.

Note: this picture is taken from a car on the highway (by someone else while I'm driving). Next time I've got someone in the car with me I'll take the post-restoration pic, but otherwise it's hard to shoot and drive on the freeway.  Also, there's a porta-potty, and other equipment used by the painters still in front of the mural. In the pre-restoration photo you can see the crackling of the paint, and the color is a faded orange.
