Banksy • Flower Thrower • Love is in the Air, by craigf on Dec 20, 2009 19:29:06 GMT 1, I personally think 2.1k is far too much to pay for an unsigned print. However, well done to whoever got it. Must be someone who reads on here.
I think your right re someone off here, wasn't me btw, hanging out for a NBG at the moment ;D

Banksy • Flower Thrower • Love is in the Air, by snausages on Dec 20, 2009 19:40:57 GMT 1, I think people here have too strong a fascination with a signature. There are quite a number of artist prints in this world that sell for tens of thousands and are unsigned. With the choice between 2k for a LIITA or a NBG, S&S, Nola, Donut. It's a no brainer, LIITA is a thousand times more powerful, original and iconic image.

I understand what your saying regarding prints that are unsigned being sold for tens of thousands, but its not only on here that signed Banksy prints sell for more than unsigned, its auction houses and galleries. Maybe in 20 years from now we will all regret selling our unsigned prints.

i cant imagine you will get one much cheaper than 2k for an unsigned. maybe advise your friend to sell a kidney?

I'd have to agree with you there, blows the socks of s&s / No Ball Games & dohnut ! tis however on a par with Nola.
I remember a person here trying, and believing it to be a good offer, to get a hold of bme signed for .... s&s - laughed my head off. Signed (new) for signed (old) .. is a naive game.. and a very short game for the newbies out there.

Maybe in 20 years from now we will all regret selling our unsigned prints. But the image is everything.
I've seen an unsigned LIITA at PdP sell for more than a signed Stop & Search at PdP. The reason being that LIITA is arguably the best Banksy image/print ever.
There may be a couple other very rare iconic unsigned prints that might be justifiable, but sure if we're talking an unsigned Trolley, Granny or something of that sort I'm not sure its value would ever reach £2k.
And DotDot, I don't dislike s&s, nbg, nola... but really disagree about nola being equal to liita, it's not even an original thought.

Banksy • Flower Thrower • Love is in the Air, by Guest on Dec 20, 2009 21:22:56 GMT 1, I was referring to the same image signed versus unsigned. but i do agree, that some of the older images like LIITA are going to be hard to beat, but Banksy has time on his side to create future classics.

Agree broadly with this, in that with the older prints a signature isn't the be all and end all and Pest Control actually is.
Of the 700 or so of the unsigned runs how many are actually still out there in decent condition?
Banksy does have time on his side to create future classics but does that market have the appetite to support for another 10 years or is the game up? I'm not sure that the images of late are generic enough to stand the test of time personally.

Banksy • Flower Thrower • Love is in the Air, by snausages on Dec 20, 2009 22:29:04 GMT 1, ^ I wonder that too Veralynn, but then again of the hundreds of Warhol prints, only a small portion are truly great, many are very boring and unattractive. Which explains why some catalogued prints sell for as little as $3000 and some sell for $200,000.
Yet Warho retains legendary status despite some boring work. Hopefully Banksy continues being relevant and execute well, which if you look away from prints but towards his work in Bethlehem, the Pet Shop in NYC and the Bristol museum Show, I think he's been at the top of his game.

I see a LIITA too mookie, and someone else with a barcode. The owner must think i'm a right nosey so and so cos I always have a good look as I'm passing.

Banksy • Flower Thrower • Love is in the Air, by dodge on Dec 21, 2009 14:59:43 GMT 1, I remember being offered an unsigned liita in a skate store in Durham. Got quoted £900. That was around two tears or so ago and I was buying a car at the time. Wish I had postponed the car purchase as I won't get the chance again! This is the greatest Banksy print ever IMO. Beautiful vibrant colours too. My holy Grail!

Banksy • Flower Thrower • Love is in the Air, by Zippy on Dec 24, 2009 18:26:16 GMT 1, very true Craig. Laugh Now was on my wanted list for many years and I am so happy I have it. My next 'big want' is a Radar Rat which (fortunately) have dropped from 25k right down. However finding one is not so easy! I did think an unsigned soupcan would be a really easy find?
