I can't take MBW seriously after EXIT ..Am I alone, by dannykj23 on Apr 5, 2011 1:35:31 GMT 1, Can't bring myself to buy his art - and if I'm being honest - I actually like some of it He is just to manufactured for me - in every way - perhaps by B himself Either way ...who else feels like I do ?

I can't take MBW seriously after EXIT ..Am I alone, by schnulli on Apr 5, 2011 1:44:24 GMT 1, I do like some of his earlier work - as ridiculous as that sounds given the short timespan - but I'm unlikely to ever put any up on the walls.
As far as Exit goes, I don't think it's influenced what I think of his art....I just think it's pretty sh*t what he's putting out anyway nowadays.

I can't take MBW seriously after EXIT ..Am I alone, by maumau93 on Apr 11, 2011 21:20:54 GMT 1, glad i finaly found some people that agree with me i think its shocking hes become so popular because of a little friendship with banksy if i where banksy i would never of released that film as it would of somewhat halted the media frenzy around him. and the fact that he got into the art (selling) bussines for money. i do have to say that Andy wahol is another to have a team of lackies do his dirty work and then sell it as his own. all in all FUCK YOU MBW.... sure your a nice guy and mean well but you acted like a kid under the attention of banksy and completely sold both yourself and the man himself out... sorry for the rant been wanting to get that off my chest for a while now... dont get me started on banksy himself i often find myself arguing both sides.

Banksy sold out long long long before he helped mbw. Considering it was banksys team that helped his first warehouse show. They all know exactly what they are doing.

I can't take MBW seriously after EXIT ..Am I alone, by searchandrescue on Apr 11, 2011 23:31:30 GMT 1, I first saw Banksy's work at an exhibition on rivington street in 1999 (I think.) It didn't appeal to me then and still doesn't do much for me. What I did think was inventive was his use of stenciling. I can appreciate that we all have different tastes and am glad that this type of art has become so popular. I love working and living in London and would feel scared in a city without grafitti. I was out and about the other day and it struck me I was very lucky to live somewhere that people feel free to express themselves creatively and share it with others with such passion.

oh i completely agree, i just think mbw has taken it one step further. and wizbong i think he's a hypocrite at worst and disagree with him selling his works as such high prices. im pretty sure i read a quote from him some where that says art shouldn't be just for those who can afford it, well it would take me about 4-5 years constant saving to be able to afford an original banksy and thats with out going on expensive holidays and living without a car. and then he brang out this film which has just brought yet more media attention and 'brandalism' to the names of banksy and mbw and with that comes a surge in the price of pieces. who knows maybe in a few years we will see a stencil of kids flying a a banksy up the flag pole instead of a tessco bag.
And if i was banksy the mere fact that my works where being protected by plastic coverings and the properties they are on being sold as 'art with a free building' would make me quit what i was doing straight away as i had become exactly what i had set out to expose...

I can't take MBW seriously after EXIT ..Am I alone, by johnnyh on Apr 12, 2011 8:53:19 GMT 1, Need to be careful here as your comments in general are not about his art but his prints which is also different.
He recently had a small expo at a gallery here in Hong Kong and the stuff that was done with Broken records was really interesting, good and quite stunning.
Similarly the conversation on the forum the other day cioncerning the Team Robbo expo existed around one daft RIP Banksy print rather than the real art work by Matt Sinclair and the dripping canvasses etc by Choci-Roc were excellent pieces and really inovative.
Some times look a little deeper than the selling out thing. Sold out or became more popular.
Banksy's last print was hardly expensive at ยฃ90 Bargain if you got one. He could have put them out at what price ??

I can't take MBW seriously after EXIT ..Am I alone, by maumau93 on Apr 12, 2011 17:20:28 GMT 1, mmm, i dont know maybe i just feel this way because i started out interested in 'propper' graffiti on the streets and that's how i became interested in the whole street art movement and when i began to see banksy selling at auction for hundreds of thousands it made me a little dissapointed with banksy, i know there isnt much he can do to stop these price hikes but im sure if he really wanted too he could think some way up of combatting that. sory bout the rants wasnt having a very good day and i just decided to let loose. my bad :/
