Show everyone your latest Art Purchase?, by Chris JL on Sept 24, 2020 16:39:22 GMT 1, My better half loved the print of this Pure Evil image (and her birthday is in few days). But rather than paying extortion prices from flippers, I decided that having an original stencil done was a much better option (and Charley and his crew are great people to deal with -- highly reccomended)
Haven't seen it in the flesh yet, but loving the images the gallery just sent me:

Show everyone your latest Art Purchase?, by Charlie Bronson on Sept 25, 2020 4:13:25 GMT 1, โHead Redโ Michael Hussar oil on wood board. His art isnโt for everyone. When I first started getting into art around 20 years ago, Hussar was key in the early days of my art addiction, and still plays a role. Iโm lucky enough to have a handful of his paintings now. I remember seeing this piece around 10 years ago. When the opportunity arose this month I had to grab it. Iโm sure some of you will think itโs a bit much, understandably so, but I dig it and canโt wait to put it in a baroque frame and hang it up in a young kidโs room without telling them.

Show everyone your latest Art Purchase?, by tomega on Sept 25, 2020 22:01:54 GMT 1, Been a couple months since purchased and likely you saw it being advertised for sale by fellow forum member - not too hard to figure out as heโs a huge Billy Childish fan/supporter and he posted an image of a stellar Billy Childish painting on this very thread not so long ago.
For those of you who donโt know which one it is, itโs the far right, upper most rectangle canvas (doh! they all rectangle) itโs the one depicting cat, cranes, bridge, crucifix, man with axe etc. And I have to say itโs a fantastic painting and so glad I got the opportunity to buy it. All my BC paintings are early works and this latest one is no exception as itโs from 1989 and it sits very well amongst my other BC paintings. Itโs called โBank, pub, crucifixโ and if I were to try and interpret it Iโd suggest itโs a depiction of the actions of people upon themselves (alcohol consumption, greed, lose behaviour - urinating and having sex in the street), upon each other (crucifixion may suggest crimes against humanity) and the environment (axe man chopping down trees, cranes may refer to buildings being built). The lying female form centre of painting may suggest a female whoโs been attacked (by a drunk?) or may suggest that sheโs herself is drunk. Unsure what the cat may be suggestive of. Certainly the main figure who is male is closing his eyes to all that is happening around him which is something many people (or governments) can be accused of. Alternatively, it may be none of what I have suggested and was just an idea/image of what the artist wanted to commit to canvas at that time. Personally, Iโll never truly know the real message of the work, if indeed it has a message. But then I donโt think you truly need to know the message of an artwork to enjoy it. I guess knowing what an artwork is about can be nice to know but not all artwork has to have a message. I imagine most art is created by artists based on something that they want to create in their own inimitable way which may, or may not, have been intended to convey a message to the viewer. An artwork of flowers (be it a realistic/abstract painting, or a video, or a photo or any other visual depiction) may simply be a depiction of some flowers and the artist simply thought โHmm, they look good, I think Iโll paint/photograph/film/ themโ.
Apologies, this is why I try not to post too often as I have a tendency to wander, verbally that is - or in this example wandering with typed words! Anyways, hope you like my most recently purchased artwork.
