Show everyone your latest Art Purchase?, by Curley on Jan 9, 2007 19:45:39 GMT 1, That looks great. Love that frame Have you gone without a mount at all ? I would be worried if the print is touching the glass. What happens if the print is touching the glass? As in does anyone actually KNOW what happens when a print is in contact with UV protective, conservation grade glass, in a professionally framed setup? ( I have heard urban myths about prints sticking to normal glass, but never seen any pics etc..), spoke to my framer about this a few weeks ago, he is adamant that if a print is framed properly there is no need for a mount and the print being in contact with protective glass presents no danger to the print whatsoever. I ask as I am interested to hear from people who know what the score is, I have a very nice print framed with UV/anti reflective glass but unmounted, and am curious.
Yes, the print can get stuck to the glass if there is any damp in the air. I have had this happen with old crappy prints in another house in the past but not with any of my Banksy prints. Its not a risk i would be willing to take.

Show everyone your latest Art Purchase?, by atomcore on Jan 9, 2007 22:07:16 GMT 1, People keep posting about where to get large framing done. There is a small shop behind Tottenham Court Rd (london) which specialises in framing film posters especially enormous, rare, delicate ones. The website is www.mpag.co.uk/ I haven't used them but you can see their work in the shop. I got a quote a while back for a large Peter Blake print I have and they do seem very competitive. I should also point out that I am not on commission.

I'll have another 3 Non Banksy and one Banksy to show you this time next week. Nothing outstanding though, quite simple jobs. Like me really. ;D

Why not? If it's not the framed prints, it's nothing that can be seen without a microscope anyway.... so what's the harm?

I don't mean it bad, but - I laughed so well as I saw this Banksy with all those figures and dollies. Banksy want to show what America did (Mickey, McDonald's clown) in the same time as the terrible event in Hiroshima happened (the crying kid; it is a very famous photo). And now you have a print of this picture and put it in your room to your gaudy collection of dollies.

Come on people share your Banksy's with the rest of us, you know what to...

*wondering* you know me? I'm new here (but I know Banksy a long time already... =) Anyways... I haven't got any prints *sad*. But maybe I get some in a few weeks... I collect Banksies on my PC (internet, friends' photos, my photos...) But I have got a really, really big map from banksy paintings, drawings, crude oils, outdoors and videos with a lot of real rare ones. =) You lucky ones have prints.
When I print some pics I do them on gloss paper using the company printer ink when everyone else is at lunch.

Nice! Simple doesn't necessarily mean bad - you have nothing to be ashamed about... especially not with THAT print!
(I love those lights!)

I see your point, but there is nowhere in my home that is suitable for this print. what about if I set fire to the shelf and throw a bucket of blood up the wall?

Show everyone your latest Art Purchase?, by dirtypete on Jan 13, 2007 13:13:41 GMT 1, Just got my 'Laugh Now' and 'Flags' back from the framers. I find that most Banksy pictures lend themselves well to chunky black frame, so this time riound I decided to have a bit of a change from the norm. Went with a dark brown wooden frame for 'laugh now' and I'm really pleased with the results, because it's more organic and doesn't take away from the vividness of the print. Why I never got this framed earlier is beyond me!
I decided not to host pictures of the flags because it seems to be the same set up as everyone else has gone for, simple black frame.
Being extremly kind, my other two banksy prints (flying copper and barcode) are hanging up at my step bros house. When I eventually break in to get them back I'll post some pictures.

That's glad that you see the point. And it's OK, when there is nowhere in your home that is suitable for this print. I only wanted to say it, it's... provocative . Oh and you don't need to set fire to the shelf or throw a bucket of blood up the wall.
